Great Lakes - Did you ride today?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Put it this way, it was a lot easier riding in the fog and drizzle than trying to post pictures.
Thanks again CyLowe97* for your help.
Next up we're going to get you an avatar.
I think this should be it. Save it to your PC.
Then load it back to bikeforums under User Control Panel > Edit Avatar.
Use the browse button to find it on your PC. Bingo.

If the weather is OK for tomorrow I'll ride then. I'll take it easy until the rest of the year. Probably no rides longer than a couple of hours.

Wet day today, but it's finally done! Thanks for all of your support, I had fun doing this. I'll try to post some pictures later.
Congratulations on the accomplishment. That is just incredible.

Not a bad day here in Ohio (for December anyway) 45 degrees, cloudy. Did have a stiff breeze out of the south though. Got in 41 miles, problem was I didn't have a big breakfast and came darn close to bonking on the way home!

The temps were up so I decided to go out for a ride despite the fog and rain. I've never had a more disgusting bike, the silty dirt on the roads was horrible, I have no hose! Guess I'll stick to the lousy 'bent trainer.

Now....what's the goal for 2008? ;)
Well my goal for 2007 was 7000 miles and look what happened.
I'm sure Friel wasn't happy about all those junk miles that I had in.
I don't think I can put in an extra 3000 miles this year.
Goal for 2008 thinking..... I'll have one by the end of December.

You're so lucky. I wanted to get out so badly, but I had to impress the new boss and work.

I take my front wheel off and prop the bike in the bathtub and give it a quick wash. It takes me longer to clean the tub afterwards than it does to wash the bike. I've only been out a max of twice a week in this weather. The rest of the time I'm on the rollers watching movies, or listening to TS.
finally cold enough to freeze the trails, got in about hour of MTB in one of the local woods that is full of 4x4 trails.

Did anyone bike in this great weather on Christmas Day? Well I rode 19.1 miles down the Rock Run Greenway trail from my neighborhood past the 7-Eleven, then into NE part of Channahon (I&M Canal Trail looked too wet to use) then into Shorewood on way back home. Our preserves were technically closed for xmas. Pretty peaceful w/ all the snow gone. Supposed to be near 40 again tomorrow.

Did 25.4 miles today (low 40's , sunny - clouded over late in ride). Supposed to be a bit colder tomorrow after some snow tonight. Maybe an inch but that'll mostly melt tomorrow so I think I might squeeze in a short one.:)

Pass the pastries, will you?
no, i ate them all.
they are no more.
sorry.
i do have some chocolates.
later.
28 miles so far this morning. 28 more after work. I ran into something interesting on the commute in. I was riding the LFP between Oak St. beach and Navy Pier where the path is at a slant. There were a few cops around so I slowed down. They had strung out the police tape so the path was effectively blocked. They didn't tell me to stop so I just ducked under it to get past. As I was passing, I saw they had someone in a body bag. Don't know what that was about, but it's kinda eerie to know they found a body right where I (and others) ride all the time.
20 miles on the MTB again today.

Riding? No. Working out outside? Yes.
6" of snow in the driveway. Shoveled that by hand. Helped the next door neighbor shovel his. Heading down to the other neighbors who are out of town and will shovel theirs.
If I have energy left, I may get out to snow shoe a bit.
we only got 2" down here. if the winds pick up most of it will blow off and away from my driveway. thank you snow and wind gods! later.

Plainfield.... So close to Florida, so far from God.
Or something along those lines...
Me, garysol1, my son, his son and one of his friends(and one I too will count as friend) did a three hour and change session at Ray's Indoor MTB park. Made some great progression today, very happy with results. One bad crash, left hand swollen, arm scratched up and shoulder sore, but survived too fight another day!!
Happy New Year all!!!!!!!

Me too! Great way to start off the 2008 cycling season. 1-1/2 hours in fresh powdery snow. I tried riding my MTB on the river trail, but gave up after a 1/2 mile or so. Start the indoor computrainer classes next week.

Gary, you gone in the expert section yet? With my new jobs (Just the other day I had none!) I don't know if I'm gonna get to go back in the forseeable future. Tuesdays are usually my day.
BTW: After 8pm (I'm not sure if it's just weekdays or what) you get in for $10.

Ill do a little in the expert section. Mainly the drop off and such. I don't like being that high off the floor on the narrow stuff when I am clipped in. Not worth breaking a leg over :)
I did 19.5 miles today. The weather couldn't have been more perfect.

Happily, 10.1 miles today (I know, pretty small, but I haven't been outside riding since November). The roads have been snow covered or snow chunked since December 1.
First ride of the new year, 14 miles. Eventually, that number will increase as the weather improve too. Haven't been posting mileage since I have not been on th saddle since October.
22 miles at Busse woods today on the MTB. It sure beats spinning classes!

Leinad and myself rode 31 miles today. What a crappy day. Wet, windy and chilly but at least it was outdoors. Below Leinad is wondering out loud what in the hell we were doing out here...:D
