Same here... did the Tuesday night crit yesterday and completely bombed on the 2nd race after I placed 4th on the first one. 2nd race was a 30 lap race and I could only handle 15 and fell OTB. :( Maybe because the first race had 23.7mph avg. And it was just too much for me, I don't know.
Third race on the other hand I got 5th. Weird.
I did 45 Miles with the local club it was cold and rainy but overall a good ride.

Yesterday rode around and followed the flood waters around town, took some pics. Making up for the gawking yesterday by sandbagging today.

I've been kind of leery about taking my road bike since all the flooding we've had around here...in town the intersections are covered in gravel and outside of town I'm not sure what roads are closed or gone. I know a lot of the Sunday ride of the Hilly Hundred is probably covered, especially up by Paragon and the Morgan Monroe State Forest. So, yeah, I took my hybrid out towards Lake Monroe on 446, turned off on Knightridge, and went down to the lake on Pine Grove (MAP) (http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=39.11934,-86.430001&spn=0.029,0.051842&z=15). It was about 24 miles, seemed like more because I'm so used to my road bike...which I can't wait to get back on. Beautiful day though!

12 miles in zone 2/3.
Winds at 19 and gusting to 26...:notamused:
Yup, tonight was nasty. Rode 25-30 miles from 6-7:30 with those winds on an out and back. Almost too wiped out from the southerly ride to enjoy the return north.

28 miles with the wife on the tandem this morning then a quick 7 on my single to check out a new saddle. Pretty windy from the south but all in all a nice way to spend a morning.

excellent ride today. 15 miles, bike shifted fine. back before it got hot. There was a couple of new rough spots because of the flooding but we were pretty lucky.

I feel your pain! I've been off my bike for over a week- due to it being at the shop and waiting for parts (650 wheels, grumble)... But I can pick it up today! Chances are when I pick it up after work today my luck will bring about a massinve duck-drowner and I won't get out this afternoon, either.

Yesterday I went from Indy to Brooklyn/Centerton area. Saw less flood issues than I expected. We did run into a bridge that was closed - only about 4' wide section of asphalt left on the approach, the rest was washed out and saw a few places with edges of the road washed away. Rode 57 miles in the morning then into work. Today, no ride.

Nice east-west loop today out to the Metro Parks and back. Did a few sitting and a few standing hill intervals
while in the park. 30.5 miles at 19ish avg speed. Just switched from my Old Alias saddle to a Toupe. So far so good....

Were you able to pick up your bike and hit the asphalt or was there a massive duck drowner?

10 miles on the tandem ..but WAIT!!!!! It was cool. We took part in G.OR.B.A. bike parade. GORBA was trying to beak the current world record for the number of cyclists in a bike parade and we took part. There was somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,000 cyclists involved but I am not yet sure of the exact number. Lots n lots of bikes though

29 mile commuting home today at a measly 16.1mph avg. This morning strong winds from the northwest had me in joy because I'm going south-south-east for my work-home commute and of course the wind direction had to change in the evening into a headwind :twitchy:
Sheesh - had to get the leg and arm warmers out again since the bottom fell out of the thermometer this morning (well, cold for June anyway). But I got in a good workout even if I couldn't quite manage to work up much of a sweat.
Anyway, it was a good prep for an event I'm doing this weekend in northern Michigan where we'll be starting out in the 40s in the mornings.
14 mile commute to work. Absolutely perfect. Could not ask for a better day or a nicer ride. Actually have had a pretty good day at work too. Something is going to happen.

The wind sucked, once you were out of the draft it was over.

finally after setting sail and pretending to be the love boat captain i got back on the bike today. 13 or 14 days off just as i was about to peak..........such is life. manage 30 miles today around 17.5 mph pace. felt horrible as i tried to shake the vacation out of the legs. later.

Took the "long way home" from
work, all 19 miles of it. Threw my chain and subsequently my rear dérailleur into my spokes about 1.5 miles in. took me 15 minutes to get everything bent back into shape and was very hesitant to go hard the rest of the way. Had friends over last night so no time to investigate the damage any further. Hope it wasn't too bad
I did have something funny happen about ten miles into my ride yesterday. A squirrel ran out in to the road about 10 yards or so infront of me. I swear it stopped, looked at me while I was slamming on the brakes. stood on his hind legs, looked like he pounded his chest, then ran back off the side of the road the way he came from about the time I was completely stopped. Remineded me of those commercials when the squirrles ran out in front of cars to get them to swerve.

6/17 - yessir.
Tuesday Night Penny Road Ride. The usual 28.4 miles of drafting the fast two riders just to hang on. And we slowed down to a crawl at the stop signs. :)
One driver hollered at cyclpsycho to remember to stop at the bottom of Haeger's Bend. And there was even a B Hills police car in the lot at Penny Road when we got back giving us outlaw skinny pants wearing punks the stink-eye. Hey, we did pretty well, officer! It would have been nice if he had driven over and just said "hi" to us to see how things went out there. A little positive interaction goes a long way, IMO.

Rode 37.1 miles today. Dropoff in Yorkville. Rode around area for couple hours then rode back to Joliet. Took 126 to Ashley Rd. South to Walker Rd. East to Schlapp. South to Caton Farm. East back into Joliet. Hardly any traffic once out of Yorkville til I got back into Will County. Was in Lake Geneva area 1 day last week and rode around north of town. Nice scenery. Will have to ride on the White River Trail next time i'm up there.

Not sure about mileage, but about 35 minutes. My temporary steed in FL doesn't have a computer. It's well tested though. Did I mention it's light weight? This sucker cruises! It may not be a nice new carbon track bike, but it's acquainting me with single gear riding! The front basket is handy too, especially for carrying the laptop to find an internet connection.
I might write up more of a ride report later, but this was day 1 of a 3-day cycling event out of Rogers City, MI, which I'm sure nobody has ever heard of. Hey, it's only the home of the world's largest open-pit limestone quarry, but at least my 4 nights in the motel is costing me less than one night just 60 miles away in Mackinaw City!
Rode 60 miles today, which was 40 miles more than my longest ride so far this year. And not as flat. It started on a bike path for a few miles along Lake Huron:
http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj214/gordonwd/Cycling/IMG_0868.jpg
The county roads are miles and miles of trees:
http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj214/gordonwd/Cycling/IMG_0874.jpg
I'm sure these 10 miles of hills are nothing to you younger guys, but I thought they'd never end. Plus, I swear I rode up several hundred feet more than I ever came down, but still ended up where I had started:

Your truly (sorry, I was wearing my Saturn V jersey instead of the BF jersey that I also brought):

6/21 - Oh yeah.
102 miles, 99.5 or so of which were with Rowdy and Psimet on a nice little route Psimet has put together. Got a bit wet around miles 55-60, but then the sun came out. I love being able to ride to the start of a group ride.
Newspaper's in the Sidis and they're drying on the porch. :D
