rode at Vultures Knob today. Halfway into our second lap my chain broke on a nasty climb and I jammed my knee into my stem. OUCH!! I have a Grapefruit for a knee now :(

51.68 miles on the touring bike. A friend is just getting back on the bike after back problems and wanted a leisurely pace, so touring bikes were the choice. Did a combination of two regular rides backwards. Amazing how different the scenery is coming the other direction.

Beee-U-tiful weather to ride today. Did 55 miles down through Elgin and Hoffman Estates over to the Penny Road route roads and then back. Wonderful day to ride.
Came home and then went on a 5 mile jaunt around the neighborhood with my family. Mrs. CyLowe rocked it hauling the kids in the trailer.
Did I mention the weather was absolutely amazing?

Does the 3 miles I pedaled my grocery getter to the supermarket and back count?

Sure it counts - probably more than most all of my rides since they don't replace any fossil fuel usage or serve any purpose aside from fun and fitness (and satisfaction of obsession). I'd like to occasionally ride to retrieve food instead of consume it, but they keep moving the grocery stores further away into the burbs.

8/10 - Team Time Trial with aham23. Painful does not begin to describe it. I think even aham was impressed with the depth of the hurt box we were in.
Flat, fast and windy. Pretty sure we got our butts handed to us, but we actually did fairly well (about where I thought we would be). We actually passed a lot of groups, but with everyone leaving at all different times and doing 2 laps on the same course it was hard to tell who was where and if the team you were passing was a good thing for you or not.
Think we got last in the Cat 4 grouping, but I only think there were like 3 teams listed as 4's. We beat at least one team signed up as Masters 30+ (our category as well). We beat the pants off a lot of the old folks and juniors.
It was brutal. 50K is a long time trial for me.
My reward....a saddle sore the size of Texas. It just applied for it's own zip code. :thumb:
From Ohio...
70 miles this weekend, about 30 with my wife around the Olentangy & downtown area here in Columbus, plus 40 out in Westerville with a group ride.

Did a nice 52 mile ride this morning, I went a different direction than I normally ride and did a bunch of roads I've never ridden before. 3 German Shepherds decided to help me work on my sprinting today
Central Ohio was beautiful this weekend!!!!

Yeah.. back on the bike after the crap weather on Monday last week took all my time last week away from cycling. My 2nd ride this August.
Commute home, 28.6 miles at 17.2mph Felt sooo good to be back on the bike again.
24 miles on the dark ass Olentangy bike path in Columbus. Good ride, but need new 5:45 am route.
And hey, any you guys out there at that time with a 10,000,000 Watt helmet light on.... please don't look at me when you ride by, you are like a car with it brights on while riding on a pitch dark road.
Completely blinding......

8/11 did a short swim then rode about 10 mile. 16.4 avg. nice recovery ride
8/12 = yes = 31 miles
planned an easy recovery type ride before work. a flat at mile 20 made sure the ride was easy. first, its August, which means a lot of the country roads i ride get a coating of gravel tar crap. second, the first new tube i tried had a small hole in it, THANKS Performance!! :( . third, when i got the second tube on, inflated, tire installed and started rolling out i had a bouncy rear wheel. a lovely little buldge in the tube or tire made for a run ride home. sure, i could have tried to correct it, but i was already pissed off and trying to limit the damage. it sure was nice out this morning though. later.

38 miles on streets and various bike paths.
I ride everyday possible. Today early at 7am my 8 year old grandson and I had a nice 21 mile ride along the lake. Cool at 56 degrees but it was a nice ride with him. Now if I can get my four year grandaughter to get off the training wheels she can start riding as well with us:)

59.43 miles today.
37.4 miles long training criterium, two riders from a Pro team showed up (DLP somthing or other) and we raced for 1:23:40 making the average speed 26.83 mph and I had an average wattage of 234W mainly sitting in the pack.
One of my better races of the year, relentless attack after attack. After taking a monster pull, only three riders would follow through and after 5sec of recovery, I had to stand up to grab a wheel again, then another pull, etc.
Very demanding race, but now I have an answer as to whether or not I'm in good enough fitness to upgrade.

32 miles Tuesday nighter training races. My computer died so I don't know what the avg was, but another dude who was in the pack with me said something along 24mph. It was not too fast today, not like 2 weeks ago where it was murder trying to hang on at 26mph.
It was a good day today.
Fantastic ride today!!!
10 miles with my wife (she's just got the cycling bug!) early this morning. Back to the house, grabbed my bag and a banana, then did my 18 miles to work with great time!
The 10 miles ended up being a great warm-up.....
Very nice morning, indeed.

knocked off more time on the usual ~12 route, maybe I'll be able to add another lap in the forest preserve soon. Drinking a glass of water beforehand probably helped, along with the cooler weather? luckily I got in and out between the rain showers (or is that out and in?).

Same as Scott. Not to mention him showing me who was boss on EVERY climb. I thought that maybe if I sprinted uphill I could be as fast as him, but it didn't help.
Cervelo Dave blasted the ride apart with 13 miles to go, and set a tempo of about 26-27mph. After a rotation paceline, I realized that my teammate was gone and I should ride back for him because it was getting dark.
After getting him within a shouting distance of his house, I went back to the meeting point, where Sadie, another rider who got dropped caught me, and it was then that I realized that I didn't even realize she had dropped. Needless to say, I felt like a jerk.
32.8 miles around Stony Creek Metropark yesterday in IRC (low 60s, sun just rising, no wind, slightly cloudy). Took just over 2 hours riding time, but I was in no hurry. A taste of retired life, which begins next week for me. :)

65.20 miles today, after hammerfests the last two days, I wanted a long, easy ride, but went hard on some of the hills anyways. One of the hills, I worked myself into a perfect groove. My average speed on the climb is usually 10mph, but this time I was doing 14mph with less effort, but the wattage was about the same as usual.
I can't believe how much I want to ride lately!
3:41:56 of ride time, no breaks.

I took a different route home today. I rode along Woodward to get a preview of the Dream Cruise. I wonder how much extra gas these driver will burn tomorrow. According to the signs the cheapest gas it 3.89 I know that the cars in the Dream Cruise do not use the cheap gas.
Gas, .69 cents the price of a can of beans
Light 12 miles this morning with my wife, getting her in the habit of getting up and riding with me. Just along the Olentangy Bike Path...
Decided against riding in to work (18 miles) as I'm doing a hard 40-50 miles tomorrow morning with fast friends and I don't want to die.... So, my goal is to do another 10 light, high cadence miles (and have some yummy home-made spaghettie with turkey meatballs) tonight!

8/15- 62 miles. The type of ride where when you get back you announce that it was a damn good ride to a squirrel.
2 miles from my house is a 330ft elevation gain over 1 mile hill- that i barely ride. that was a nice warm up. Then I rode through the rolling hills of hinckley and bath and down to the far corner of the valley via bath rd. up northampton to akron peninsula to riverview and climbed back up through brecksville reservation. Little more climbing than I was planning on doing- but on a day like this who can complain?

Spent two days with family in Lake Geneva. Rode around Lake Geneva Wednesday (Started at the Cove, rode out to Fontana, Walworth, Fontana (again), Williams Bay and then back to the Cove.) in mid-late afternoon before rain moved in by around 6 or so. Rode on the White River Trail Thursday starting at the Cove going north on Center which becomes 120 at US-12 and took it to the Pedal and Cup in Springfield. Rode on the trail west to Elkhorn (rode into downtown there.). Then rode east to east end of trail near Burlington. Last 100 yds or so on east end of trail closed by Spring Valley Rd. due to the Burlington Bypass construction. Then turned around and made lunch stop at the Lyons Grocery in Lyons (place stops serving lunch at 1 so ended up having a turkey sub from fridge) before heading back to the Cove. Venetian festival taking place this weekend there (checked the carnival out Wed. night). Could hear the bands playing fairly loud from our hotel across Center St.

8/16 - 36 miles with the Dunwoody Cycling club ride recommended by FlashUNC. Great group ride just north of Atlanta with lots of hills and fast sections along the Chatahoochie.
Hope all the DLD riders had a safe suffering time out there today.
