Folding Bikes - Fixies in the NYT

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

[no mention of folder fixies though, so they retain cult status, below the radar, along with all other folders]

"Just as die-hard skateboarders 15 years ago stood on the cusp of providing a new lifestyle, so the fixed-gear bike culture could be the tip of something that nobody can accurately predict but something that is huge."
I can see fixed as a preference but a lifestyle? Any fixie clothing, music, I could be wrong. Skateboarding became a 'lifestyle' because people started it in their teens and perfected it in their 20's. Times may also be confusing the fixed gear thing with tall bikes, and possibly BMX (w flip flop hubs).
What's up Geo8rge, don't you listen to fixie songs?
I'm just kidding, I agree with you.

On the subject of Flip Flop hubs Harris seems to have a nice cheap product under their own name:
