Well I've been kind of slowly adding some carbohydrate foods back into my diet and some sweets too. In the past even trying to add some carbs/sugars back would have upset my stomach rather quickly so I've been very strict on them for quite a while.
Lately I've been feeling a lot better so adding carbohydrates/sugars hasn't had any sort of imediate reaction which is a good sign of improving health. So I've just been binging on carbohydrates/sugars/grains the last 2 days (well binging for me and probably normal for the rest of you) and the first thing I noticed was this.
I can pig out to the max on carbs and still be hungry. Serious. That's why you keep on piging out on them.
Well its been interesting for 2 days but back to the high fat/low carb diet. I don't like being hungry all the time.

What the?? The reason you binged on carbs and sugar is because you deprived yourself of it for so long!! How about eating carbs in moderation along with proteins and fat in the same meal? Its called a "balanced diet". Throw in a beer and ice cream and you've got a complete meal.
Carbs, the right kind, are good. Carbs are your friend. But even with good friends, you can't spend 100% of your time together or you get sick of each other. You need to balance it out with friendships with proteins, fat and beer.

Well actualy even though I say that I'm on a low carb diet I probably eat more fresh vegetables than most of the rest of you. Fresh sauerkraut, bitter salad greens, spinach, cauliflower, cucumber, zuchinni, onions and more. Its just that when you count calories these foods don't add up to much so without grains and starches It counts as high fat.
The only issue I face with not consuming bread/grains in paticular is just the sheer convenience factor when eating out. If I have a tiny bit of bread its OK but its a slipper slope and if I have that tiny bit more rather than satisfying my hunger my hunger only increases.

45-60% of an individual's total daily energy or calorie intake should come from carbohydrates.
This is Canada's site, but I'm sure Australia has a similar one:

I agree with Henry VIII... Fat burns in a carbohydrate flame......

but its a slipper slope and if I have that tiny bit more rather than satisfying my hunger my hunger only increases. This is so familiar, but a bit out of context for me. The thing is, you see, that you love carbohydrates. It's odd that you don't recognise the feeling. :D I mean, there are songs, poems, and everything!

Fine you need carbs.
Just make sure its the right carbs. You need sweets? Then make sure they are some good sweets. Stay away from corn syrup and get into some organic brown rice syrup.
I'm too lazy to do the search but just google the different sugars out there and see which are the good ones. There are alot of them so its not as simple as picking up some candy and calling that your sugar requirement.
You need carbs? Then chow down on some vegetables to get your complex carbs. There are other ways to get your carbs than the unhealthy ones.

I ran into the same dilemna when training for a trail running series. I wanted to drop some weight so i dropped carbs. What you don't realize is the body needs those carbohydrates to effectively operate (your brains consumes 20% of the carbohydrate energy in a regular diet). I learned quickly that while riding and running 60 miles a week i got pretty weak. I put the carbs back in (good carbs, no sweets and only whole grains--which give the body satiety) and ate smart fats and kept higher protein portions and i was still dropping weight and my muscles were properly fueled. carbs are 50-60% percent of daily calories, protein 10-30%, fats 10-25%
