While the Universe has looked kindly on me and presented me with a Burley Paso Doble for a price that make the heavens smile, my neighbor is now looking to get a tandem and maybe cycle with us!!!! Yeah, it's contagious. . .
Anyway, can someone (hint, hint. . . TG) look at this craigslisting and see if they can tell the year, model or anything? I had the poster measure and it's a size L/S which is a good size for the neighbor, 30" stand over front, 27" in back.
Thanks for the help, if you can give it!

Oh and I commuted to work today!
It's only 7 miles so what am I wasting $3/gallon driving!?

The 2000 model of the MT800 was tropic green with silver decals and with cantilever brakes.

Decals don't look the same but they may have changed over the year. One thing is certain and that is that it is a 2000 or earlier model due to the brakes.

Not certain on your US prices- but it does seem a bit high to me though.

The pictures and description aren't really good enough to be definitive as even the colors aren't clear enough to pin down a model year beyond a general observation: it's no newer than 1998 (pre-CAAD frame design). However, if the color is actually a black to dark green fade and if those self-energizing Scott Pederson brakes are the original equipment, then make it more likely around a 1993 model.

The most definitive way to date the bike would be to have the seller provide you with the serial number. In the "old days", the first four numbers in a Cannondale tandem's serial number were the frame size, followed by month/year, then the sequence number, e.g., a 98 MT3000 with serial number 18160398102 = 18" captain / 16" stoker built in March 98 with the sequence number of 102.

Where would th4e serial number be?

Where would th4e serial number be?

Given the likely age, have the owner check the underside of the right seat stay just above the dropout / rear derailleur. It's imprinted using a pin-dot-matrix vs. stamped numbers and sometimes can be hard to read if the dots have filled with paint. The old pencil rubbed over paper can sometimes help bring up a nearly invisible number.

If it's not there, check bottom of the chainstay and if it's not there check the rear / stoker's bottom bracket.

BTW, the asking price is way out of line even for a '98 given what I'm seeing relative to condition and age of the components.

So, what year was it?

They never got back to me.
Sorry, I wanted to now, too.
