If it finishes under yellow, so be it. I hate artificial bunching of the field are artificial close finishes. (Was there a green, white, checkered today?)

You only get one shot at a green, white, checkered finish.

It beats the heck out of 11 laps of yellow to the finish....

Green white checkered is indeed good as it gave Jeff Gordon the win.!!!! Call me a redneck, because in truth I am one and I loves me some NASCAR. It may well be the worst "sport" ever, but I like it.

Led to another wreck today, didn't it?

WRC ftw.
+1, those WRC boys can drive. But look at what has happened when open wheel boys come to NASCAR. Then again, when NASCAR sent some guys to race against the best at some international challenge event the F1 boys ruled.

Here is a Bud light! Yep, a Gordon fan that drinks Bud. And my second favorite driver is Jimmy Johnson, but I shop at Home Depot. I am just a walking anachronism. And yes, the green white checker is just an invitation to a big wreck, better be in the lead or you are in the belly of the beast.

Actually he got it before the yellow flag came out that sent it to green white checkers.

I liked nascar better when they were allowed to race back to the yellow and didn't have the dale jr rule(All of those mysterious invisible debris cautions just when the over-rated driver is about to go down a lap.)

I'd like Nascar a lot better if there were more road races on the schedule.

No, he still had to race for it, until the checkered flag waves, it is a shoot out. Once the wreck occured, the field was frozen and NASCAR turns to all sources, including video to decide the finishing order. Today, the green yellow checker did indeed give the win to Gordon. Racing back to the yellow was just going to get someone hurt. The current system works and ensure driver safety. And the Dale Jr. theory does not fly. He did not make the race to the chase, seems he would have if Nascar had the fix in for him.

I'd like nascrap better if the technology was more modern than the best 1975 had to offer. Also, IMO, just like Boxing and Wrestling, it's fixed.

That's now known as the Jimmie Johnson Rule, by the way.

Sorry Jeff, I'd rather watch highlights of the Tour de Georgia (even though I already know what happened on each of the stages). There is one aspect of NASCAR I can relate to though.

Technology does not a good race make. Go watch your local 2-stroke kart races for some good racing.

More road courses needed. Also, i think alot of it is rigged. Dunno why... just a feeling I get. It is a big corporation, and I feel they may not "control" each race... but I think there is definatly an influence to the outcome.

I don't even turn on the road course races. If God had meant for Cup cars to turn right he would have... I don't know. It just ain't right.

You know what I wish? I wish NASCAR would go back to racing real production cars. I miss the "win on Sunday, sell on Monday" days.

You know what else I wish? I wish Tony Stewart would buy a razor and use it.

did not watch Nascar back in the day, but I hear if you did not have a factory connection you had no chance. The big teams were getting back door parts that the little guys did not have. It was no different then than now, IMHO. I do not think Nascar is any cleaner or dirtier than any of the other big entertainment activties like baseball, football, etc.

Name a sport with a larger audience.

Would it be Soccer, Jai Alai, or maybe curling. :)

there is something special about a sport that is so dear to a rednecks heart that he can sacrifice an almost full beer to throw it at a car.

some stats:
watching the local news there were only 70 DUIs after the Talladega race(should have been around a few thousand). and 13 people arrested for throwing beer cans. 20 or so public intox.. and 1 for giving the police a false name.

edit: I've been to a few races.. there are some incredibly attractive women there and they are drunk so I look good.

You know what I wish? I wish NASCAR would go back to racing real production cars. I miss the "win on Sunday, sell on Monday" days.I miss those days too. Now only a handfull of engine parts ever saw the Ford, Chevy or Dodge factory. And if all the cars were just in primer it would be hard to even tell which make was which.
