A 1988 Burley Duet, (based on component dates) paid $500, everything is in fine mechanical shape. Thanks to all for the input on a previous post about this bike.
Sounds like a great deal to me! Congrats, and enjoy!
A duet for $500? Great deal!
Have fun, take lots of pictures!

Congratulations! Our first tandem was an early to mid 90's Duet, not too much different than yours.
I was a regular club rider and my wife / stoker had hardly ridden at all since childhood.
We did our first metric together five weeks after the Burley arrived and have enjoyed every ride since.
Three years later we're on our third tandem, and my single bike is rarely used, but I think we're done with new bikes for a while.
Good luck!

Congrats! You've got a Burley classic! If we recall correctly, Burley entered the market with the Duet back in 1988!
Looks like a bit of upgrading to barcons, as the first Burleys had thumbshifters mounted on top of the drop handlebars.
Enjoy the ride TWOgether!
