Road Cycling - anyone heard of Fastrax/Hodaka bikes?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I am looking to get some info on Fastrax bikes built by a Taiwanese company called Hodaka. I am looking at getting a Carbon frame and was wondering if they do quality work or if they are crap.

Thanks

I owned a Hodaka 100cc dirt bike about 25 years ago. It was a piece of s**t. Sorry, but thats the truth.

I have no riding experience with Hodaka, but they are now the ones making the custom Scandium and Scandium/carbon frames for Salsa, which certainly looked impressive when I saw them.

My dad still owns a 100cc Hodaka Super Rat motocross bike. One of his hobbies is restoring vintage dirt bikes. Can you tell I am part of a motocross family? It might seem strange since I am a roadie & not a mtbr.

I hope they build better road bikes than dirt bikes  Thanks for the input.

i've had a fastrax carbon road frame for 16 months now. [3500 miles so far] ........... ride is great [had 2 kleins for 10 yrs, which i loved, plus many steel frames prev that i just lived with their harsh ride].... i'm a little over 205# and 6'-2" and i am riding avg. 2+ mph faster on this bike on most of my training/tour routes and just FLY on downhills !!!!!!!! .............. put the best bottom bracket in that you can afford, as alot of forces go right to the crank on this stiff frame

Yes,
But that Hodaka was from Oregon, not Taiwan.
