Mountain Biking - next set of tires

I currently have a set of panaracer xc pros that I traded with a friend for. They have since worn down due to their softer compound. I think I might actually purchase a new set of tires for once. I was wondering what everyone else is riding on.

BTW current riding conditions include loose dirt, some mud,a little road, lots of gravel and small rocks.

Im a big fan of the velociraptors. Cant really get a more agressive tire. Cranks through the mud and the loose dirt. Although you do sounds like a tank on the road.

yeah, I've had a set, but can you tell me where I can get a set of the kevlar bead instead of the wire bead. Less rotational mass and all.

ya i gotta agree y change? but velociraptors are a good choice. also check tioga factory extreme xc's,very agressive xc tread handle welll in wet and can handle freeride dj abuse(eric carter uses em for mtnx) PEACE

I agree with you guys selections, but where can I get some of these and not pay 40 bux a tire(tiogas) or 30(other 2) oh, and any suggestions on some good semi slicks, Lookin for something to handle on road with some traction. Slicks scare the s*** outta me. I've already crashed 2 times with some specialized slicks. (fatboys)

pricepoint has the velociraptors, kevlar bead, for 20 bucks a tire. I dont mean to be rude or anything, but I found this in about 30 seconds of looking. Checked jenson, nashbar, and pricepoint and there it was. It may be adventageous to just do a quick search and see what you can find when somone recomends somthing.

I used to have Fire XC Pro's like you. They were good tires but a little slow rolling because of their square profile. I tried the 1.8's and they seemed to work well but they were so narrow they didn't inspire much confidence. Now I'm on my second season with a set of Trailblasters and I think they are excellent, fast-rolling tires with great bite. I also like the fact that they are interchangeable, so I can rotate them to get maximum life since the rear wears out quicker. That's why I won't buy a front/rear specific tire set ever.

nuthin beats a set of those old skool wal mart tires sometimes. You know the ones I mean. The funky lookin triangle shapes on the tread. Allthough, I cant argue with running two of the rear velociraptors on my bike The tread design is quite good for cornering in loose dirt.

I use the Specialized Enduros on my Heckler, cheap and aggressive. Down side is the Arizona trails tear'em up!:D

Im running Specialized Rocksters, they are light enough, not ultra light, but reasonable, they roll great on the road, decent in sandy / loose, not as good as a knobby in mud, Oh, and they stick like glue on clay.

If I get some new tires, it'll probably be those. I like to run fairly low pressures for traction, but with 2.1" tires I risk a pinch flat sometimes. And like most XC riders, I like light tires :)

I run Michelins. The Front S in the front and the XLS in the rear.. a solid combo. It performs reguardless of where you're riding.. rolls quick too.



When I use a semi slick, I run Michelin Jet S slicks. They're awesome.

i have motorapter 2.4 on my dual rig. light, good grip only downside is there more rolling resistance which most of u xc dudes would hate
