Bicycle Mechanics - Brifter Part Loose-the top plate with "105" on it.

My girlfriends left brifter has a broken piece, (the top piece with the "105" printed on it is loose and I cannot figure out how to secure it). It stays attached to the brifter but is loose. This is the 9 speed triple 105 brifter which has the silver top piece. I thought it would screw in but there isn't any screw holes, only a pin, so it must snap in place. Pushing it with the pin in does not work.

Any ideas on how to fix, or does it need a replacement piece?

Does it still work? If so, duct tape and superglue are your friends.

The best fix for those Shimano's is going Campy... Not only are they rediculously tough...but immeasurably serviceable. otherwise ...the superglue idea is probably the best due to the fact that you'll never open them up to upgrade of service 'cause they are not meant for that.

White latex caulk just enough to hold it, a smidge if you would.

I was going to glue it with Gorilla Glue but thought I would first try to fix it. I popped off the plastic cap with a large flathead screwdriver and noticed the black inside piece was loose. So I locktighted the threads and tightened the screw, took a rubber mallet and reattached the cap...easy, and it is now fine:)

The nameplate wasn't held on by a tiny screw? Strange.
