Is this within Frame specs to...

I am looking to get into Cyclocross and am looking to convert my mid 90's Rincon Hybrid. Its steel, the triangle is comfortable to swing up on my shoulder, is there anything specific I need to consider??

and... will a pair of in-line brakes such as avids or deore XT's be able to effectively replace the avid canti's I currently use???

Rincon's have seemed to be well spec'd and desireable ,more of a mountain bike.They're designed for 26" wheels etc.Cyclocross is much more similarly designed like a road frame.The fact that it's built for canti-brakes is good,I don't see it working well with 700 wheels or having a desireable fork amoung other things. I'm not being overly technical by stating this either,hybrids truly are designed more like mouintain bikes,especially those with 26' wheels.

Thanks ...that helps a lot. I ride 200-250mi./ wk. road but damn-it ...I do like to get freakin dirty. I like the idea of 'cross (what we used to call in the eighties in upstate NY - Wail 'n Trail). Anyway, I will try to fit the wheels (old mavic clinchers 27") and run what width tires??? 38s? Let me know what you think. I also have a road fork that actually works ( good rake for the head tube).
