I'm signed up for the Davis Double. Anyone else planning on doing this? It's been about 8 years since I did it last, and from what I hear, it's about 1000-1500 feet extra climbing. I'll make sure I don't fall into the trap of hauling ass the first 20 miles.

But then again, everyone might just be so fast for me, I'll only be able to say hi at the beginning . :p

If I do it, you will definitely be faster than at least one person.

I sincerely doubt that. You didn't see what type of slug I was going up Casitas Pass.

I registered, but due to some conflicts, I can't make the ride.

Maybe next year...:(

We just did the Davis 12 hour challenge, which follows a lot of the same route. The traditional route through Big Canyon is still closed and the detour up Cobb Mtn. is a MUCH tougher climb. Be prepared!

Hasn't it been this way for the past several years? That's why the elevation gain is a bit higher.

I promised it to a friend who wants to ride it. If that falls through, you can have it.

Dauphin:

My friend is not able to ride Davis either. Do you still want the registration?

If anybody wants a free registration to the Davis Double, please contact me. I can't ride that day. :(

Does anyone have the elevation profile for this ride? Thanks, Bone

Have a look here:

It gives you a vague idea of the elevation profile. I do not believe the total gain is accurate. I guess it should be more (including cobb mountain).

Hey, all you Davis Double veterans -- is the route so well-marked that you don't need to constantly consult your route sheet? Or would it be a good idea to use a map-holder on this one?

I usually stick the route slip in my shorts, so I can pull out the route slip from my leg. Don't worry, nothing else comes out of my leg!

Lutz,
Thanks, that is a big help as I now have some idea what I am in for. Bone

Then see you tomorrow!
I will be No. 338, riding a whitish Raleigh with a bent-back seatpost.
You will find me at the end of the field after the first climb - cardiac.
