Basically, my history teacher is a grade A *******. Sarcastic, rather rude to some of his students, and he likes to play little games (which always means lower grade for student). This guy has been teaching for over 40 years, he is retiring after this year at last. I also am permanently done with the school in under 2 months.
This guy has a disliking for me, because I will outright argue with him if I feel like injustice has been done to me. He makes a sarcastic remark in front of the class while we argue, and I am always pleasant, smile, and just deal. Well, I am very tempted to, just once near the end of the year, give it back to him. He will make some remark, and I will return fire. I've never done this to a teacher because I know I will be back the following year. But given the circumstances....should I get it out of my system at the opportune moment?

it's your grade...
This would occur after grades have been done. I will be taking my finals early because I am a senior, so I will have a good 3 days in there after my final grade has been determined for that class.

I did that a lot during the 1970's. That may be why I gradeated with a 2.29 GPA from a wonderful, but less than stellar university.

If I have learned anything my first two years in college, its agree with every word your professor says. My GPA was at 2.5 after my first year (disagreeing, or simply looking at something from a different perspective) Now its at 3.4 (I don't believe half the b.s. that I write in essays or lectures)....

Well, I've done alright in that class in terms of grade. My average is an 86 I think, hwich is a B. BUt since it's an honors class, that B counts for a 4 for gpa.
What good would it do?
What are the potential downsides?
Balance the two out and see what makes sense.
DO IT! soo worth it! especially if he is an a$$hole and treats people like crap;)

Grades can, and have been, changed. Revenge is doing better than your tormentor.
Um... if you're done early (grades are in), then be done. Go for a ride. This won't be the last time you have to "deal with" someone you are not too fond of. ;-)

As Yoda would say:
Gain from this, you will not.
Choose your fights wisely and consider this an exercise in patience. You can't win because there's nothing to be won except a short-lived righteous feeling and an extra bit of contempt from the teacher, and the people who thrive on that sort of thing often end up becoming what they despise. Just take quiet satisfaction in being more mature than your teacher.

There is never an appropriate time, but that never stopped me. Then again, self taught, hated school and barely graduated.....I am not likely the best person to ask.
But then again, I still have a successful career in an area of the world I love to live in. So really, your choice :D

It might be better to speak with him one one one and I think you may be surprised at how far talking to someone individually can go. Collect your thoughts ahead of time and see how goes. He may not realize how he sounds from your perspecitive or he may blow it off - either way you'll get an opprotunity to speak your mind.

+1 for that advice. It is a gamble, but it can't hurt, and likely will change the impression in his eyes probably for the better. That can't hurt when getting grades.

Do it, but do it well. Don't lose your head or be a potty-mouth. Be in control, be fair, be assertive, be articulate, and PWN him savagely.
You'll hate yourself forever if you don't do it.

Ironically I agree with post JamLucky's post#12 as well. But I still say do it. Sometimes that 2-minute petty feeling of satisfaction is so worth it.

Dont burn your bridges. It took me a very long time to realize this. Just realize that he is an old unhappy man and be glad that, in two months, you wont ever have to deal with him again.

I don't get it.
You do your exams, your grade gets decided, you're finished school, but you've still got 3 days of classes to go to? Why would you go back after your grades are decided, what's the point?
