My son and I, along with a few friends will be riding in the MS150 ride in Savannah on May 5-6. We ride in honor of my wife's father, Larry Heymann. A former cyclist and teacher, Larry was diagnosed with MS 27 years ago. While he no longer teaches, he continues to inspire with his enduring spirit as he lives within the extreme physical restrictions of this disease.
Our team rides because he no longer can. We ride for all the things he can no longer do -- walk, talk, ride, stand, sit -- for all of this and more, we ride to find a cure for all the husbands, fathers, grandfathers, teachers and anyone whose life is changed by hearing, "You have MS."
Our ride has taken on special significance as Larry has recently developed complications which have required him to be hospitalized in Atlanta. We hope he will be coming home soon, but he is facing a tough battle to fight infections in his weakened condition.
Please take a moment to visit our team's website and make a donation to the National MS Society sponsoring one of our team members in the Savannah Challenge. Help us help Larry to help others to have hope.
