I think that Campy used a different spline pattern on their 8-speed cassettes than they do on their 9- and 10-speed cassettes.
Do you have a 9/10-speed Campy wheel but an 8-speed Ergopower shifter?

I have a similar issue.
I'm building a cross with some of my older road components. I have a campy 8 speed cassette & shifters. I don't have wheels yet and wonder if I should try to convert my shifters to 9 or 10 speed (if that is still an option? I followed some earlier strings that indicated the conversion parts are no longer available) or just buy an 8 speed compatible hub and build my wheels? I also have a 10 speed campy crank.
Any ideas? Thanks!

Thanks guys! I was looking for a new wheelset for my old record ergo 8 speed system. I guess I'll just rebuild my old wheelset. :)

Is there anyway possible to take a 9 or 10 speed Campy wheel and respace the cassette down to just 8 speeds and still index with 8 speed ergo shifters?

I think the cogs are spaced more closely together on 9 and 10 speed Campy cassettes, so this wouldn't line up with the increments in your 8-speed shifter.
You could check the market on eBay for 8-speed Ergo levers, if you want to sell yours and just get 9- or 10-speed. You could pick up a Shimano-compatible 8-speed wheel (they're all over the place, b/c they're also 9- and 10-speed compatible) and get one of those things that converts the shifting (can't remember the name off the top of my head).
Or you could just rebuild with current hub if it's in good shape.
