Well this past weekend was spent in St. George Utah taking on another Century ride. My friend Lara and I left early on Friday and since it only takes 90 minutes we were there early enough to pick up our packets. We had other friends coming but not until the morning of the ride. This is going to be a quick report with lots of pictures because I am tired and I think I need a new seat :o I ordered those Assos this morning :D The ride had 9000 feet of climbing through some glorious areas of Utah. The new home developments were amazing. Every home has a view. This ride brought together MANY old friends and some new ones. I would be lying if I said this ride wasn't hard. The temps were 96 degrees but that's right up my alley so that part was okay. But the long long long long climbs were destroying me. Anyhow the next day was the recovery ride which started at the town park and we rode up into Zion National Park, and if you haven't been there you should put it down as a must see. ENJOY.

Very nice! You're a century riding fiend! You coming out this way again soon? I hear there's an Outback Steakhouse and a century to be ridden in Thousand Oaks on May 12th (Cruisin The Canejo)

Actually there were some cactus there in full bloom with pretty little pink flowers sprouting out.......not many people think pretty flowers and cactus together.......but a beautful sight amongst the desert landscape.

ill do around 2 hours of 105ish...but thats about it....in the 90s i imagine i could do a century seeing as that was pretty much the deal saturday, but it hurt! i get better with the heat as summer progresses!!

Great ride, and pics, Asia!! I love Zion - camped there a few years back and had a lovely park ranger named Becky Johnson kindly tell me that pitching my tent on top of our Ryder truck (we had just finished a weeklong stint working with the Navajos in New Mexico, and the truck was our supply vehicle) was a little unwise as it might get crazy windy at times. I wanted to tell her that as long as she and I were in the tent holding it down, it wouldn't be an issue. But I wussed out. ;)

It was great......the ride up to zion is wide open and the shoulders are huge....there was even more activity that day because Barbara Bush was there. But it was a wonderful experience. Please take into consideration that it was a Sunday. I'm sure Saturday's are probably busier. But not one complaint here.

Gina doesn't do climbing rides like this. Heck, I'm not sure if I'll make it!:D No, no camera cause the computer flaked and can't load pix. Gina has done 16 miles up GMR but never completed it to the village. It was a hot day and she does not do well in the heat. Heck, some beach rides nearly kill her when the temps get above 90. Second attempt up GMR was cooler and going pretty well till I got stung on the neck by a bee. I turned back cause stings have been affecting me more now that I'm up there in age. I think she would have made it that day, but I was ascared!:D

I asked and she said "you're crazy"! She says you've got her outclassed bigtime. Remember, we're just liteweight weekend warriors.:).....Gina has no interest in doing organized rides really. She pretty much only rides when we cruise to the beach.
She is gonna kick your tail for that picture :) and uh yeah she is a climber...I saw her darn it. I'm not climber and that's a fact.... and believe me I don't outclass many...only my kids actually :o
tell Gina it will be fun.....cmon we dont have to do a century.....we can do any of the routes....she's great company.

I cant believe that :eek: everytime we went out we could see that chuck a rama sign especially at night :D We laughed because we could see many people sitting in there and wondered why they would choose that place with such a vast choice of good eateries..........but we figured hey its a buffet and well maybe you can tell me what possessed you to enter through those doors :p

Well, we were out visiting some of my GF's family in St Geroge... and that's where they wanted to have brunch... so that's where we went :rolleyes:. To be fair, the puking wasn't from bad food per se... I think it was more of, err... choking turned upchuck. Either way, YUK... I really don't want to eat there again.
BTW, great photos! Southern Utah is awesome... I hope to be passing through there in a week or so to get in some riding.
