Here's a couple from this weekend... not sure what exactly I'm doing in the second one... I think that was supposed to be a wave to my parents taking a picture but my arm was too tired... not sure. 2nd place. Feelin like I'm getting close to that first win... I hope so. But in the meantime podiums are nice. :D

I need to give my wife some more tips on taking photos.
It was a chilly day, so I opted to keep the thermals on w/long socks.
First race in the sport class, finished middle of the pack, but was able to put a lot of time into the guys that I was racing with last year.
Still need to get more time on the MTB.

Fat Tire Festival XC Race Presque Isle Maine. I did the 14 mile intermediate race and got 4th overall, won my age group. Was one of my first major mountain bike races, and I was pretty happy with how I did. The pictures in the blue shorts were from a downhill race the day before. Rode a 06' specialized stumpjumper pro.

Yeah, I'm too fat for this sport - but at least I'm on the bike.

How close is this stuff from my school?!
Port Angeles is about 8 hours away, across the state on the Olympic Peninsula. But Schweitzer Mountain (lifts) is about an hour-and-a-half away, Silver Mountain (lifts) is about an hour:

Mt. Spokane (shuttle) about 45 minutes:

Moscow Mountain (shuttle) about 2 hours:

Thanks goodness we had Chris' fancy camera to get the shots!
The only problem is getting the pictures (or video) from that ******bag!

I can't tell if that's focus or fear in those eyes!
Great shots, all of them.
^^ Thanks! I chose to purchase that one because I told myself that' was focus. This one, however, definitely smelled of fear  :

awesome photos! is that the Blindside in action?
Thanks! Yes it is; it pops well, yet is still stable at speed. Really, it's a great bike that I still find fun to ride. Only reason I moved on was to update to either the TR450 or the Yeti and I went with the Yeti.

It's just as fast as my other bike... at first... gets slower as the ride gets longer... :D
Tons of fun though.

Well... this thread is awesome. As an avid crit racer, I am very excited to try mountain bike racing. Still in the learning stages (only been out twice) but hope to race within th enext few months. Very cool.

Back from my night lap at the 24-hour race last summer.
That lap was a little tough, because it was cold and raining, and my guy was late coming in because he'd had dual light-system fails, almost simultaneously (yay MagicShine), and had been "drafting" other riders' lights and/or working from memory and night vision alone. For, like, a half-hour.
So I was shivering, waiting, and decided to wear my rain jacket. Of course, 10 minutes into the lap, I was roasting and was about to hit "Five Minute" (a long climb), so I shed the jacket. And 10 minutes after that, I'm fixing a flat in cold rain at the top of Devil's Up, while six people pass me back (grrr!). MUST. GET THEM. :twitchy: (and yes, I did get them all before hitting Little Vietnam)

Final XC race at Riverside this year. The black thing on the side of the head tube is my kludged-on Contour video camera. edited-down video from the race (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YqRhyaRIxQc) I was racing rather mellow, since I had the series win in the bag already, and ended up hanging out with a buddy for 4th/5th.
Must be time to rep the "other" discipline again. Last spring at the ProGRT opener in Port Angeles, WA:

Heyyyyyy.... your bike is not touching the ground AT ALL! Can you do that?
;)
If you ever want to borrow my crummy ContourHD camera to try capturing a race video, let me know.

What? You've never encountered the HoverBikeŽ phenomenon before? Smooths out the ride soooo much.

Hey, you're Contour isn't crummy at all; and thanks for the offer. However, my son snagged me a GoPro from an REI scratch-n-dent sale last year and now I have all the mounts and stuff to get me up and rolling with it this season. Might try it out next weekend if the weather cooperates.
Sweet...you got a camera! I have two so we'll strap one on Chris and we'll have all of the angles covered!
^^ maybe I oughta set up a rearward mount too. That'd be a fun.

You just use the same helmet mount and point the camera to the back. Super easy.
^^ Doh! Of course. How many times did you have to futz with angles (forward) before you got it dialed?
I did a couple of test runs on the property. Dialed it in pretty quick. Field of view is pretty wide so minor fluctuations aren't obvious.

Sasq (or is he a Yeti?) couldn't believe how fast Steve Smith was either . . . but he was.
