this weekend i spray painted by bike and put decals on it while it was fully dissasembled. but when i put everything back on, the brakes were messed. they squeeze but dont come back. and the brake lever is loose. did the paint jam up the cables? i need to fix it

Did you put the spring back into the correct hole in the frame?

yeah Vs. i put em in the right hole. idk why it doesnt work. cable just seems "loose"
If the bike was fully disassembled, then the paint couldn't of jammed anything.
Does it feel "loose" (as in no resistance) or does it feel like there is a lot of resistance. If it is jammed up from paint, dirt, etc. if would fee like there is a lot of resistance.
Grab the two brake bodies (the two sides with the pads) and squeeze them until the pad touches the rim. They should bounce back. If they don't then you have a prob with the spring in there - either wrong hole, or missing the spring or w/e.
