Road Cycling - Anyone have experience with the Cervelo Soloist?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
So... I'm thinking of getting back into road racing after a long absence. What's better than starting with a new frame? :D
Actually my current frame is OK... it's a 12-yr old Specialized Allez Epic (Giant-made bonded carbon fibre) but I'm starting to get nervous about the lifespan of those bonded joints.
Does anyone here use the Cervelo Soloist (2002 or 2003) for road racing. My training is typically on less than perfect roads with lots of hills that are 0.5km to 2km long.
I love the look of the frame and the 2002 models are a good deal right now. I'm a little concened about the stiffness from the downtube and whether or not Cervelo has a good road geometry. I only need comments of the frame as I'm planning to transfer my DA 8-sp components over.
If the Soloist was made of Ti I would have bought it! Great frame, and very good patented downtube. I think you'll see the Soloist ridden in the TDF this year by Tyler Hamilton. My only complaint was that it seemed very stiff, which for some is a good thing.

I really like the Cervelo road geometry. I race (road and crit) a Prodigy which has the same angles as the Soloist and find the handling spot-on. It's a very quick handling bike but not in a bad way.
FWIW - I run a 58cm frame with a 120mm stem with a 3.75 inch drop to the bars and it fits like a glove.
Thanks for the feedback. Do you remember what the retail price for the frame at your LBS?
I just checked with my LBS this AM and they said CAN$3500 for the frame. Youch! The guy reading the catalogue didn't seem confident of that number though.

They're wrong.
Per Cervélo's website the Soloist Team is Can$2099 for the Frame, Wolf full-carbon fork, Cervélo aero carbon seatpost and Can$3399 for a complete Ultegra bike.
When I bought my Prodigy back in 01 I paid 1500 USD for a complete bike. I wasn't real fond of the stock Cervélo build so I stripped it down and sold off all the parts. I ended up paying in the neighborhood of 550 USD for the frame when all was said and done.
I currently have mine set up with a Dura Ace kit and a Power Tap for training but it still sees occasional race duty.
Last time I was in that LBS it was $1899 canadian, that was back in January though.
