Charity Events - Support my Trek Across Maine, Support Breathing

This June I'll be riding my first charity event, the Trek Across Maine to benefit the American Lung Association of Maine. It is a 3 day ride that starts in the mountains of western Maine and ends up seaside in mid-coast Maine. It is 180 miles total over the three days.

As someone who rides, you may have noticed that your lungs are somewhat important to the effort. Please considering showing your appreciation of them by sponsoring me :)

Along with being my first charity event, this will be the longest rides I've attempted. Normally I commute about 13 miles each day for work. I've begun training with longer rides but knowing that I have sponsors will be great motivation. Especially in the mountains!

I'll be there too riding with my team "Much Ado about Biking". We are a rag-tag bunch of English teachers and such from Bangor Maine. Watch out for the mountain to climb on the first day at about mile 35. It is a doozie!

The one just outside of Strong? I saw that one on the route map; look for someone pushing an old Miyata up that hill!

Last year just prior to that climb I heard a rider announce to all who wanted to listen, "alright, it is now every man for himself". I pretended to be Lance climbing Alpe d'Huez, so it seemed to take the sting out of it. I'm not sure what will keep me pedalling to get up that climb this year.

Let's hope for some nice weather!

I had a great time, and was surprisingly less sore each day than I thought it would be, given that this was outside the scope of my usual riding.

I beat the storm to Owl's Head but it caught up to me in the shuttlebus line debacle.
