I have a friend (really I do).
He owns an old Ross which he seems to enjoy, but would like to look at a triple for the hill climbs we plan to do this summer. He is looking at the cost to replace the parts (crank,BB,front and perhaps rear derailer, chain, cassette and then perhaps the wheels, etc...)
Obviously there is a roughly right cost to doing this kind of upgrade with say 105 components.
My question is (not knowing the Ross brand) is he better off simply looking at a new/good used bike that has his desired components, or is the investment worth the trip?
The bike is in good shape. Even if it is brown???
It's got an old leather saddle that just looks painful. But we go out and ride and he doesn't seem to complain... not sure he would if his leg fell off thought...:p Just that kind of guy..
Thanks for the input - will pass it on.
