Just starting to rock and roll here at 75/190 area. Rain is coming down incredibly hard, lots of lighting. Supposed to peak at 7:30 or so.

Pretty hard here at 75 and spring valley. Woke me up from a nap with hail pounding against the windows. Siren was going off as well.
pretty tough in the galleria area. Sirens and lots of rain but no hail. Must be nice to take a nap!!
It is POURING down here right now. Wind is smoking the rain off the streets, really hard to see out the windows. My front walk is a river. Just watched a shrub or tree branch go past in the rapids that used to be my front sidewalk. Have a closet cleared out for me and my oldest son. My wife is in Spokane on business and my two year old is at my parents in East Texas.
just got to carrollton and it looks like it's moving out but still pretty heavy rain. I may get my kayak out just in case!
we had some serious weather here in Odessa today....both the high schools were in a lock down from 2nd to 7th period....no students were allowed to leave campus....my wife and 3yr old spent 30 minutes in our walk in closet due to serious wind and hail along with a tornado warning...there was some pretty big hail as well...it cleared up this afternoon, but I just dropped off my 16 yr old at church and it's turning ugly again...dark, dark skies....it's that time of year for us...hope all is well with everyone else!!
Keep your head down Pharmr, and best of luck. It is pretty much over here now, but starting to get a bit active out in east Texas where my parents are with my two year old. Funny thing is my wife was complaining about having to fly out at 5 am to Spokane. It was supposed to be cold and rainy there today. Bet our rain here was worse.

we just got a bunch of wind and lightning here , sirens going off and such.
However, my daughter called me and said that they had damage in Forney. Wind ripped apart the balcony on her grandmothers' house and the carport at her house was damaged. I'll know more tomorrow though. Apparently the winds got up to 100mph out there in Forney and Terrell.

Dang... that storm picked up the pace on me, and even with expert storm spotters guiding my timing, I made it into the house with mere SECONDS to spare... The clouds split open as I was hanging my bike on the garage wall and ducking inside.
Morning Bump. We survived basically unscathed, though many of my neighbors had major tree limb damage. Did not see signs of any structural damage as I drove my son to school. How did everyone else fare?

No damage at my house. Couple streets down lost some big/old trees/limbs. Twigs and small branches are EVERYWHERE, though... Glad I made it inside before the skies opened last night.
Large tree limb came down from a tree in front of the building across from mine. I actually just looked out the window when it happened. I heard the heavy winds pick up and looked out to see the trees bent back towards the apartment buildings and the limb ripped free. Other than that looks like things survived around here.
The rain came down in such amounts that the entire street was flooded right up to the top of the curb. The nissan sports car parked out front had water breaking right at the bottom of it's fender. It was amazing to see the water flowing down the alley just up the street and meeting the water in the street in a large rip-current like wave.

Patio/balcony at my ex in-laws house was demolished, at my daughters house, the roof of the carport was rolled up and dopped on her mothers car, and most of the shingles were blown off the house. This happend in Forney, right off of I 20 and FM 2932, five miles west of Terrell. Happy to report that everyone was ok.
Chris
Heard about the 100 mph winds in Terrell, guess they were for real Chris!!! Glad everyone is ok out your way. Tonight on the way home from Cuda's with my NEW TEXAS BF JERSEY, we got hammered by raindrops the size of marbles. They were freaking huge. The sky got green and I was waiting for the hail but it never came. By the way, did I mention MY NEW TEXAS BF JERSEY!!!!!!!!!!? I so want to go ride right now, but wife is out of town and little one is sleeping, so I am stuck at home.

Seems like Oak Cliff got the brunt of it, saw plenty of ripped roofs on the news. And here I was whining about the cable being out.

Rode the same loop I rode yesterday... AMAZED by the number of trees down. Also amazed by the amount of cleanup that's already been accomplished with trees cut up and stacked by the street.
Jeff, glad you got home safe. Kinda laughed when I saw it POURING only minutes after you left. Glad you and Wade didn't get stuck outside in it while you were here.
RC_Spinner - sorry to hear about the carport on car thing. I glanced across the complex to where my truck was parked and saw our carport still firmly in the ground. Those kinds of things do worry me here though. Last week when we had all the storms come through I left my truck at the Galleria Mall parking garage for a couple days to keep it safe from the weather.
Yeah, lots of trees down all over the news. Hearing the sirens last night kind of took me and the wife by surprise as we weren't watching the news all evening after getting home from the doctors.

No joke!
Hope you boys and girls are watching the radar if you are thinking about heading out the door for a late afternoon ride. On the good side though, if you time it right you won't need to shower when you get home. ;)
WOWZER! Thanks for the heads up! Batten down the hatches, looks like I"m going go be installing Ergolevers and riding the trainer tonight!

Ya, not so lucky...
It came down like pellets to begin with and then calmed down some. Had no problem until lightning filled the sky all around and waited for a bit under Walnut Hill. Car battery happen to die after I was picked up too. Posting up some pictures and a report in the RC forum soon.

I got caught in it too, rode from work to the Trinity Trail, took it all the way to the end in Benbrook and then the sky turn black and opened up. I finished the ride, some of the water crossings were up to my bottom bracket from the flash flooding, but it was a fun ride. I had the trail all to myself.:D
Hey CM, long time, no hear, how ya doing?

Pretty good, I still lurk, just haven't had much to say.
I think I found a pic that would properly depict my ride attemp this morning....
I am officially tired of all this rain.
My next thread will probably be a review of my iMagic trainer.
Oh well. Into every life a little rain must fall as they say.
I have my sisters graduation to go to later tonight, and they usually have it outside, but now it's probably going to be in the gym, oh well.

Doesn't look I'll be able to ride again. I missed my 3 hours of sun yesterday with other activities.
I am starting an Ark in my backyard if anyone wants to come work on it. Bring two animals.

This sucks! 3 days off and I cant get a long ride in on any of them! If I knew DFW was going to turn into the Amazon when I bought a bike, I might have been able to prevent that whole drought thing last year:rolleyes:
go buy a kayak and the rain will stop. i have been laying pavestones in this crap. everything is wet and weighs twice as much. only nice part is the base material compacted easily wet, and the stones laid down very nice. i just finished, so be ready for the rain to stop.
Haven't turned the pedals all weekend either. The one bike I'd consider riding in all this rain is kinda stuck behind all the other bikes at the moment and don't have the energy to rearrange them all to get to it. Also just got home from picking up the wife's new car.
NOTE to anyone car shopping: it is next to impossible to see small dents (such as hail dents) in a car when it is wet from rain with beeded up water. Almost bought a year old Elantra with what we discovered was 25-40 hail dents because we couldn't see them at first inspection. We came home with a different 06 Elantra for a grand less, with no hail and fewer miles.
cool a new car. . . .
the rain sucks, with all this and being in Europe for a week and work I haven't been on the bike
in almost a month. . . .argh.

Hey nice catch cuda. :)
The one thing that I really like about my Langster is how good it is in the rain. Really easy to wipe down and lube. But yeah, riding in the rain still sucks after the novelty of it has warn off. And for me this long weekend, it has long since worn off.
Hot bananas, look at the radar DFW'rs!

Indeed. Been watching it move in on the radar this morning. Both the wife's new car and my truck are safe under cover for what ever comes this way. Stay safe everyone if you have to venture out this morning.
Strong winds and some ugly looking clouds scudded through lake Dallas about 20 minutes ago (9AM). Since then it has been pissing down buckets of rain. A tiny bit of pea hail mixed in, but not enough to do damage. At the very least, the cities around here are going to lift watering restrictions soon.

This weather is insane. I haven't been on the bike in over a week. I can't take it anymore. I may ride later even if it is raining.
The clouds looked really cool 10 min before it rained. It was like puffy, upside down, and they were moving to fast it looked like they were swooping down and up.
The worst of it appears to have moved through here now too. I'm on the 19th floor of the Galleria Tower II, the stairwell door is right behind my cube and it was rattling from the wind. My boss's mini-blinds on his windows were knocking side to side with the sway of the building more than he can remember in the past which prompted a trip downstairs to starbucks for coffee. Also seen multiple transformers blow just to the south on the other side of 635 from the building.
yeah, nothing better in a shaky, swaying building than some caffeine to put you on edge and make you jittery!;) :D
