We had our second of our 9 Time Trials this year. I was able to set a new Personal Record averaging just under 26 mph for 10 miles. I've been doing the TT's at the same site for 5 years and each year I've set a new PR. I need to shave 20 seconds off this time to get me under my next time barrier that I thought I could never even dream about. I'm hopeful that by setting a new PR this early in the seaon, by the end of the series this year that 20 seconds will not be that big of a deal. Heck-it's only 3 seconds a lap and only 20 seconds out of 23 minutes!!

Cycling is so unpredictable. The first TT a month ago I had the worst time I have had in 2 years. I did an 80+ mile ride Saturday with 8400ft of climbing which is NOT what you want to do before a TT. On top of that I got the flu this past Sunday and was out of work Monday and Tuesday. I was not expecting anything tonight and did a new PR........

But anyway, to answer folks' questions. Yes, you can get faster after 50. I just wonder at what age it will peak!!

Nicely done JPPE. I assume you were on the Cervelo.

26mph for that distance in a TT is a great pace regardless of your age. I wish I was as fast, great job, setting personal bests for me is better than a first place finish.

Could we have a "slow" contest? I would have a chance at that.

jppe - you continuously amaze me. Congratulations on reaching one of your personal goals, and setting a new pr. It is not one of mine, but then my goals are of a whole different nature than yours.

Keep up the good work.

I was. Some really, really nice carbon TT frames caught my eye out there last night though-Cervelo, Guru, Orbea..........Maybe I can latch a used model after the kids are out of college one of these days!!!

I've been doing the TT's at the same site for 5 years and each year I've set a new PR. Wow, that's an impressive stat. It's unlikely very many people over 50 can expect to repeatedly better their performance, but it's nice to know it's at least possible.

It's nice to see a post with an attitude that contradicts the whiny, self-indulgent, too old, too fat, too stupid attitude often displayed.

It would be great if you could describe some of your training. Anyone who can improve continuously for five years running, must have some secret talent for living right.

Wow, nice time trial! And it's another reminder of just how good 50?+'ers have the potential to be.

We have time trials on the roads over here and your time is fast. Admittedly not on a track but the wheel builder at my LBS did 23.09 for the 10 mile mark on his 25 mile TT at the start of the year. He is fit- lives for time trials- is good nationally and is probably about 25 years of age. Only problem is- He blew his 25 mile TT by starting too fast and only came second.

In the 45+ group- We do apparantly have a top national rider- and I Will try and find his time out.

There's no reason to get personal about this.

Please repost all your feats of cycling over on the road fourm. The young bucks will refuse to beleive you and think your really Lance posing as a 50+er and it will be really fun reading.

I wonder if there is anyone else on the 50+ who can match or better that feat?
I have a 10 mile flat trail. The best I could do is 22 MPH average on that so far. It was with a Treck Hybrid but with aerobars and 700 x 25 tires.
I will try it with the Treck Madone and let you know.
I assume this is wind neutral? Meaning back and forth? Excuse my ignorance, I do not know how formal TT are done in regards to wind.
I will try an informal one with jppe in mind.

Have we forgotten about skydive-the guy is in his 60's and rides at 25mph or better a lot.
