Calfee built up

Just finished building up the Calfee Dragonfly...final weight with pedals: 27.39lbs. That includes a rather heavy but comfy saddle for my wife. Pictures to follow.

Here are some pics and some general impressions. Calfee builds a great frame. The fit and finish on this frame has to be one of the best in the business. My wife really likes the color and how it seems to change based on lighting. I have yet to take it for a ride as I finished it last night. All the components went on without a problem, nothing tricky at all. Should be fun.

So, where are you going to put the stoker's water bottles and pump? That's the only thing that causes me to scratch my head when an open frame design is used for domestic, unsupported duties. Tri-Geek, behind the saddle mount? Just one on the seat tube? Or hanging horizontally under the top tube?

My wife asked the same question. On the calfee there is a place to mount a bottle on the stoker downtube and there is one that requires a bit of a reach for her on my downtube. If we did a really long ride we would most likely add the tri-geek carrier..I have a couple from my tri-geek days. as for the pump I typically use the co2 systems. for long unsupported rides I do carry a shortie pump in my jersey pocket.

Off Topic: So, how do you like your CabMax? Did you have a 1st Gen Tundra and trade up or did you switch brands?

I jumped on the close-out '06 DC's as the beds were still long enough to swallow a tandem.

what size frame is it? seems pretty much the same front and back.
So you bought the frame only fron calfee? Did it cost less like that?

I wondered if anyone would notice that in the background. the truck guys didn't notice the tandem and the bike guys don't notice the truck.

I picked up the truck yesterday afternoon and i only have 35 miles on it. What I really like about it is the interior space for two kids who are in car seats. I really perseverated over the crewmax and the doublecab..essentially the same trucks except the crewmax has a larger cabin and they take that space from the bed. I can still get the tandem in the bed of the truck with the tailgate down. I have a fork mount from a roller stand and then fashioned a wheel holder from an old yakima wheel tray. I think it will work pretty well. We traded in a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder. It was fine but did not have the towing capacity I needed. I tow a 29' enclosed trailer occasionally and needed something with a little more steam.

Nice no-lateral Calfee!
Another suggestion for bottle mounts: We utilize a Minoura handlebar bottle mount on our c/f tandem for pilot, and a custom mount on stoker's stem.
We remove the pop-up valve from bottle and insert plastic tubing through that hole, giving us a 'no-hands needed' drinking option.
Mounts on pilot/stoker seattube also make for fairly easy acces, and there's always the Camerlback option.
