i'm considering using jandd mountain expedition panniers on the rear of my LHT,can anyone give me any feed-back on the quality,conveinence of use?ty

Quality - Good.
Convenience - Good. The expansion is good, the bungees are handy, the top pocket is nice and the side pocket is alright
Attachment - Not as good. I hate to go harsh on them as a made in the USA company, but you have to reach between the rack and the wheel to pull the velcro strap tight, which to me is not easy. I also have Arkels, which stay on just as secure, but are easier to mount quickly. If you mount them and leave them, fine. If you take them on and off, it's a little inconvenient. But that's just my opinion.

I agree with Shemp's assessment. Good quality, pretty convenient. Reaching under the rack to pull the velcro strap is a pain. The only other negative, is the mounting hardware has come clearance issues with the Jandd Expedition Rack. Basically, the screw heads on the pannier hooks stick out quite a bit and interfere with mounting where the tubing on the top of the rack is doubled. Minor inconvenience, but it took me a few tries to get the mounting position dialed in. IMHO Jandd's aren't worth paying full price for (esp. if you buy the panniers and then buy raincovers). My wife and I have 2 pairs, which we bought used, and they're a good pannier if you find a deal. Otherwise, we'd probably buy Arkel.

I agree; I'd also add that they don't have a very good mechanism for keeping the excess straps contained and away for the wheel. You can clip them on to place with the included end clips, but I've had them come off when biking on not-too-rocky paths, so now I have to tie them off. I switched to Ortlieb and I don't think I would buy them again at full price.

thanks you answered my ? without being asked-my LBS is giving them to me at 10% over cost-otherwise i was going to get arkel 54's-i'm using arkel 28's on front and the quality is super.thanks again-
