Colin ended his epic ride at 11.40 pm. He set a new record for this 2,200 km ride in a time of 4 days 17 hours 40 minutes. He broke the old record of 4 days 19 hours 50 minutes by 2 hours, 10 minutes

1320 miles, for us Yanks. ;)

Pretty impressive. Maybe he should try RAAM one of these days. :D

From what I hear RAAM is just 20 minutes of hard cycling, 20 minutes of rest (while your partner goes) for 4 hours, then you can rest, eat shower ect. for 4 hours while the other team of 2 cyclists go and repeat.

They do that for like a few days or so? Sounds harder on the crew than the riders. 1320 miles in under 5 days solo sounds a lot harder.

You might want to do some more research. There is a solo division in RAAM.

I checked the web site. So, Cape to Bluff. Ok, Nice. Where? Aussie? NZ?

I checked the web site. So, Cape to Bluff. Ok, Nice. Where? Aussie? NZ? "Cape to Bluff" is a common shorthand expression amongst New Zealanders for travelling the length of the country from the northwestern most point of the North Island (Cape Reinga) to the southernmost point of the South Island (the town of Bluff). It's supposed to be a pretty tough, sparsely populated crossing, as anyone who's seen the Lord of the Rings films would know that New Zealand is just riven with mountains and ridges. Though, yes, certainly, the original poster could've put a little more effort to put the ride in context.

So, yeah, basically Kiwi RAAM ... or RANZ, if you will.

Thanks for the info. I'd like to do that ride but take a couple of weeks when your "Christmas Trees" are blooming.

The photo on the website of a signpost "Bluff, New Zealand" may have given some people a clue as to location...
