Are guarded bike parking facilities in Amsterdam sufficiently secure for a nice U.S. touring bike?

I'm having trouble find a hotel that will accommodate our bikes for an upcoming tour. Suggestions welcome.

Don't stay in Amsterdam. Stay instead at an inn or hotel that will accommodate your bike in a nearby town. Take a train to Amsterdam, and either go everywhere by foot or by tram, or rent a bike for the day (about 8 Euros).

Have you considered a hostel? Hostel Vondelpark is great. Quiet, clean, and have a great bike parking facility. You still need to lock it up inside the bike closet.

This place totally changed my previous opinions (from experience) about hostels.

i parked my bike on one of those multi-level parking facilities for about a week. i had two good locks to lock both wheels and the frame securely to the facility and i had no problems. whether or not that was a dumb idea, i can't say. but i can say i didn't have any problems.

Yes. I park my Sirrus everywhere, even in central Amsterdam on a Saturday to go shopping. I never use the pay places. They are especially safe, I don't think you need to worry. I assume, of course, that you don't mean leaving them with panniers and everything.

I'll second the hostel in Vondelpark. Not sure what your standards or desires for accomodation are, but that place is cheap and good.
