Introductions - Happenin' place!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Wow, I had no idea such a place existed, this is fantastic! I'm new to this forum (obviously) and also pretty new to biking... I had an old HUGE oversized mountain bike as a teenager which I hauled around with me through my undergraduate years, riding really infrequently... it ended up being left outside for a couple of winters  and got nice and rusty... anyway, with a) the abhorrent price of gas and b) a body which is going to start to do loathsome things if I don't start using it, I have decided to pick up (casual) cycling. Mostly pleasure rides and hopefully some commuting as well. I'm joining this forum in hopes of learning from people who have done this for a lot longer than I have! Nice to meet you all :) Oh yeah, I hail from the Great White North (more specifically, the Great Wet West Coast).

Hello lc_sar, I take it you don't yet have a bike? Or do you? At any rate, welcome to the club. If you are willing to divulge your location a bit more exactly, you could say hi to the locals in either the Pacific Northwest regional forum, or Western Canada :D .
Welcome to BF!

Yep, just got my bike yesterday :) Hence why I'm here (and, ahem, more specifically, in the bike mechanics subforum. Sigh.) I'm from Western Canada (hence both north and wet! Although it is absolutely GORGEOUS today). I lurked in the Western Canada forum earlier, but there was talk of a Texan takeover which made me nervous... I'm Canadian, so I generally avoid conflict at all costs... ;)

You know, those Texans tried to take over every regional forum a while back! My husband and I will be off to just outside Williams Lake in just a couple of days--we always enjoy going to Canada :) .
What bike did you get?

Hahaha, Oh those Texans. Have a great time in Williams Lake... I went there once many years ago. Soon my boyfriends brother and sis-in-law will be moving to Fort Nelson... about as north as you can go in BC before hitting the Yukon!
I'm a student, so I picked out a Schwinn from the local Canadian Tire. It's a LOT lighter than my previous massively-overframed mountain bike, and a women's frame to boot, so it feels great so far. Nothing too fancy, but it'll move my butt from A to B! Thanks for the warm welcome :)

I've been to the Yukon! That's a big open place, for sure. People in the United States don't realise exactly what kind of distance is involved in provinces like BC, Alberta, etc. Fort Nelson is a LONG way, even from Vancouver BC.
Photos of the new Schwinn?
