Why are you making the second set of bars functional? Just asking out of curiosity. Clever design, though.

I like the idea of putting control on the back so you can be a real gentleman...how ya gonna tighten that steering chain.?? ... ... ... ..peace

That's how tandems were designed back in the day. This way a woman could sit up front and get the breeze, but the man would still be able to control the bike. Pretty chauvinistic design, haha.

Nice work, FrameTeam!

Still needs a lot of work--one day(off work!) at a time.
The chain is way too loose and with a chain only there realy is no good way to adjust the slack.I plan on taking out the center section of the chain(both sides) and install rods.Maybe a small turn buckle in one rod for adjustments. Also the bottom tube will be 2x4" sq. tubing for strength & skate wheel for slack adj. Both frames were Raleighs roadsters.---sam

Have you thought about welding a tab on the top of each fork and running a single rod with adjustable ends (like on go cart steering)?

Looks great so far.

the tab and bar would work, and maybe even work better, but it's not quite as cool as having the chain

my personal opinion of course :)
