My first brevet is bright and early tomorrow morning. Oh, and not only is it my first brevet, but I'm on a new bike... I've only done 25 miles at one time on it, so I hope everything works out well. (I've put about 100 miles on it since I picked it up on the 1st) It's a used Novara Randonee that I picked up from a nice little store south of Downtown Denver, called Cycle Analyst. One of the best bike stores I've ever been in!
On a positive note, I've ridden most of the route before (Though in reverse on a large portion of it) so at least I kind of know the roads.
Oh, and to top it all off, check out the forecast for the area:
Saturday: Mostly cloudy. Chance of rain showers and isolated thunderstorms in the morning...then a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 50s. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation 50 percent.
Oh... that reminds me... I'll have to get some pics of my new ride. I'll post them up next week for y'all.

Mine is not my first brevet, but I have definitely not fully recovered from my accident 4 weeks ago, so it could be a challenge.
It has been snowing, raining, and very windy all day today ... but apparently it is supposed to get better overnight.

Good luck on your first brevet! I hope it's a 200k. :) My wife's got a tiny Randonee. Kind of a mountain bike with touring braze-ons, road bars and brifters. They only made a few of them and they didn't sell.

I DNF'd a 400K, but this one is a 200K. I got my 200K qualifier out on Vancouver Island (that's the ride I had the accident on), so I don't really NEED this one, but I thought I'd do it anyway to ease myself back into long rides. My hip is feeling much better, I've got skin on my knees again, and my shoulder ... well, it doesn't hurt too much in the cycling position on short rides. I'll see how it goes on longer rides. I just can't signal left very well.
Yes, I am still planning on the PBP. :)
And ........ my mother tried to hold me down!! :D But she knows that won't work. :D

One of the best bike stores I've ever been in! Eh... I put a total of 30 miles on my Club Racer before taking it on a 200K. So long as the wheels are true and the bike feels good beneath you ...

so, I guess the question is are you heading northwest or southeast? ;)
otherwise that sounds almost exactly like the forecast we had on last weekend's Boston 300k. Fortunately, the thunderstorms were polite enough to hold off until after we finished, and then just gave us added incentive to ride home and get dry.

Heading Northwest first, then basically turning around and heading back southeast. Should be fun! I've ridden in much worse weather, but never 200k
As far as the bike goes, I'm still settling into it... I may stop and make fit tweaks on the ride. Ah, well... all the more interesting, I suppose. :)

The Randonee has been sold for years and usually sells out of stock each year (I tried to find one to buy new a couple years ago). It generally is well received and has gotten good reviews over at the Touring forum

Well, I'm scheduled for a different 200k next weekend. Getting there will be easier, so hopefully things will go smoother. :)
