General Cycling Discussion - Job NEEDED

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Anyone know of a any kind of cycling-related job(s) either in NY or outside of NY??
I don't know of any specific jobs, but if you couldn't get hired by a messenger company, you could consider going to a smaller company that has a few packages that would need delivering, and you'd basically cut out the messenger company and get the company to hire you directly. You'd basically be on call for them, but then you can negotiate a rate that would be good for you and still cheap for them. You may want to check with law firms and architecture companies, since they are the kinds of companies that seem to need deliveries done on a regular basis.
Just an idea.
you could pedal an ice cream cart around:D

Walk into any bike shop, ask if they need help.
That what I did, almost 19 years ago!

Yeah, I was vague, wasn't I... Actually, the type of job I'm looking for is something in the marketing field within the cycling industry--hell, even working at some kinda trade show.

Perhaps you could give us a bit more background information? There are plenty of jobs involving cycling (retail sales clerk, marketing, product design, engineering, fabrication, research and development, promotions, stunt doubles, circus clown etc).

Pst a "Job Wanted" ad in BRAIN. Cheap and easy way to get your name out to all employers in your general area.

Well, perhaps I could provide a resume but since we're on here, some other time perhaps. Right now, I'm working in a mailroom of a movie studio in NYC---been here for 4 years (and counting). It's not too bad but the pay could be better (of course) but I'm in the process of writing a book about my experiences spent here. I do have a bit of a marketing background, as I worked for a year for USA Networks in their marketing department. I am a "people person"---hell, I know close to 300 people here, at work--- have been sending out letters and emails to some companies about possible job opportunities--- bit slow-going though. So, I figured why not try this site.

I would assume most bike companies have the same employment pages.
