Hi Canadians-
I'm going to be biking E. Canada this summer and would like to know where one can find white gas for a camp stove (whisperlite Int'l). I don't want to buy one of those large Coleman 1 gallon jugs if I don't have to. Also, in French what would it be called? I'll be starting out in Montreal and heading east. Thanks!

You should be able to find white gas in smaller containers from Canadian Tire and other stores. They're about the size of a liter can or so.

In French, I think it's called "l"essence scie" or that is how I heard of it when I was in France.

Shouldn't be hard. Any large store here will carry them.

It's called naphte (naphta) in French, or say "gaz coleman" while doing the pumping motion and people will know. You'll find it at Canadian Tire, most outdoor shops and in small towns, in "quincailleries" (handyman stores) which often have a sporting goods section. Most parks' convenience stores sell it too. It's not hard to find. The 1L cans are often sold under another brand than Coleman (a white rectangular can).
