It appears, judging by componentry, to be from the early '80's, give or take a few years...

Thanks for your assistance. I took the bike apart and was surprised to find the rear wheel had a cassette and free hub. I was completely expecting it to be a freewheel and never looked closely until I was taking it apart. When did cassettes start getting put on bikes??? I didn't even realize there were 6 speed cassettes. I'm quite new to this forum and don't know much about older bikes, but I thought the cassettes didn't come around until a few years later. Perhaps this is not the original hub???
Too bad because I have a brand new 7 speed freewheel still in the box ready to go on this bike. I guess it will have to go on the next one.
