I raced today
Had brake troubles on the starting line
liked my chances of sprinting it out since the finish was slightly uphill.
Sat-in but fought for position
kind of sitting a little far back for the finish
out of the last corner I go hard
300m from the line the wheel I'm sitting on gives up
I freewheel to go around him
weave through the field sprint
and absolutly **** up a bike throw for 3rd place and end with 4th.
$33 cash for me to recoop the race entry fee and 17 to a teamate who actuatly flatted out.

But most important the cat 3 o-meter is now at 15%. Maybe pics later.

Good job man. Today wasn't my day. Tired legs, stuck behind a crash, and I felt like I'd dropped anchor on that f**king hill

There's always next weekend.

yea, that hill was really brutal if you werent in the top 10. The slinky effect ended up taking its toll for me. Hope to see you guys tommorow.

good job spencer!
yeah that race was kind of crap for me. i had just about the worst start ever and had to spend the first half of the time working my way up every time we went up the hill. being at or near the back was no good in that super sharp corner because you would lose absolutely all your momentum. i finally got up to the front tried working on the front for a lap or two but couldn't get anything going so by the time the uphill finish rolled around, i was dead last in the pack of about 20. had good speed on the sprint despite the terrible positioning so i was able to get 11th and thanks to the extremely deep payout, win 40 bucks. word. can't complain if you get the entry fee and gas money back, i guess!

All the FSC guys decided to bail when we woke up Sat. AM and saw the weather forecast- so we went out and did our long-standing race training ride in town instead of driving to Charlotte. We got poured on for a fair bit of it, but I just couldn't justify driving 5 hours round-trip (by myself, since everybody else who had planned to go bailed) to likely get rained on down there. The Dilworth course suits me, too :(
