I know Sturmey-Archer made a bunch. i have an old bike that has a 3 spd the only thing printed on it is threespeedhub, made in the u.s.a. and the serial number then 3 odd shapes above it all at first i thought it was 3 5s then thought maybe 9s its got a square shaped round end then the tail drops and hooks up. its on an all pro made by AMF who ever that is. i was going to use it to make my wife a bent but it has 24 inch tires

I think Rollhof (sp?) made them?

AMF is or was a division of Head sports group.

Shimano also made three speed hubs. I don't recall Rollhof ever making a three speed, but they make a really nifty 14 speed hub (http://www.rohloff.de/english/products/speedhub/) Ive built up three or four bikes with them. Great hub but pricey $800

Sturmey Archer, shimaNO, Sachs, all made internal 3 speed hubs. There are some Taiwanese manufacturers and currently some Indian, and Germans doing them.

3-speed hubs were made by Sturmey Archer, Bendix, SRAM, and Shimano that I know of.
