Totally agree, Floyd will never be the man that Oscar is. Oscar did not deserve to lose, he was the aggressor and carried the fight.

His Dad was interviewed at the end and said ,"if you were judging the fight on points, it should have been given to Oscar". Is there another way to judge a fight?......I know, crooked judges!

Pound for pound the best fighter?PFFT!:D

I was going for Oscar too,but he did NOT push it hard enough in rounds 9,10 and 11. Had he fought harder those three rounds he would have won. BTW I can't that STUPID Howard Letterer, specially when he said "it may be cindo de mayo, but it May Weather". Geeez I just about PUKED!!!

Yeah that was one of the stupidest comments Ive heard. Oscar did sit back a bit much through those rounds, but I still thought Draw at worst.

Were we watching a different fight!!! De La Hoya was the aggressor however Mayweather's punches actually connected and in the end, that's what matters... The judge that scored the fight 115-113 really needs to retire!!!!

I agree he needs to retire he is looking old in the tooth. Having said that, if somebody paid me 40 MILLION DOLLARS win or lose. I would do fight.

No way! He said before the fight it would be a massacre. Looked like Oscar blocked most of his punches. Even the announcers said Mayw was having a hard time catching Oscar.

Pound for pound would be like Roy Jr.. Oscar couldn't gt his jab going. Said he didn't know why. I think he looked ole. Pound for pound would have battered an old fighter. Even his own Pops said Oscar should have won!

I don't know what that one judge was smoking tonight.

Oscar looked like he was flailing at Mayweather, and not actually hitting him. However, he was the aggressor for almost the entire fight.
Mayweather should take his 'dancing style' onto Dancing with the Stars and leave boxing to people that want to hit and get hit.

There was another comment that made me keel over.

'Mayweather is willing to stand up to Oscar and trade blows' :roflmao:

The judges should have ruled that they needed to stay in the ring for another 4 rounds to actually fight instead of prancing around the ring...

Just saw on the news controversy. Judges had the corners mixed up on the score cards!:D

Mayweather is a butthole-no matter who won "technically". He gets no respect.

LAS VEGAS-Youth and lightning reflexes seemingly vaulted Floyd Mayweather over the bigger and stronger Oscar De La Hoya to a split-decision win and the WBC junior middleweight title at the MGM Grand to the dismay of the pro-De La Hoya crowd on Saturday.

But a last minute inquiry put Mayweather’s win in doubt when Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer felt they had discovered an error in the judging. After careful examination it was decided the decision was correct.

“My opinion is that it (the judges decision) stands,” Schaefer said.

The reason Oscar could not get in his groove is because Floyd didn't let him. I think after 4th round, Floyd knew that Oscar could not throw enough to the body to slow him down. Floyd was quick enough to slip the punches and Oscar knew that the jab would not work, would just catch air.

Cumulative body punches would hurt even if not all solid punches. Other boxers like Julio Cesar Chavez could go inside and do damage. But Chavez would take a lot of damage doing it. I don't think Oscar wanted to do that, to take that chance of getting knocked out. YOu might call it vanity, or you might call it some kind of detente.

Both made big paydays and the fans were somewhat pleased. Both can make another big payday and HBO will sell again. This is entertainment.

+1 Oscar said he wanted a brawl but he really didn't. Otherwise he would have risked his own knockout to go inside. Throwing lots of missed punches costs him the title.

If it wasn't for Oscar there wouldn't have even been a fight. I thought it was a draw.

Oscar was the agressor and took the fight to Mayweather for about 8 of the 12 rounds, but Floyd's defense was too good, and Oscar missed A LOT. What was his connect %, <30? When Floyd did throw, he connected about half the time and made it look good. Oscar tiring and taking four rounds off didn't help him either. I was rooting for the GB, but the decision was correct. Shouldn't have been split, though, Floyd looked more effective than GB.

Mayweather's Dad doesn't like him. He got the sympathy vote from the Soviet judge.
