i busted my chain while riding, the outer plate is still intact with the inner plate with a rivet(pin) in the middle but the outer plate and the inner plate are badly twisted and i still have the roller that fell out. How do i get it back together? do i need to purchase 2 new links and put it on?

Remove the damaged plates and use a "quick link". That will also let you take the chain off easy to clean it.

You need a chaintool to remove the twisted links. You dont need a tool to fit a master link, but its useful to know how to fix rivets. I got my bike shop to show me, its one of those things which is pretty easy to do, but difficult to explain in words.
Park tools make a nice tool and their website has good repair advice
