View Full Version : Who was on SART today, did you also feel my pain?
I was just wondering who else was feeling my pain this morning. I left from Lincoln at 9am to PCH then headed Warner and back. Total mileage was ~55, but real part of the story was the wind. On the way down I was averaging 23 mph (with a tailwind) . On the way back I hit the wind OMG was it bad. I averaged 12 mph at some points I was going 8 mph. Luckily at 7 mile marker I met some guy Eric wearing a U.S. Marine's jersey we took turns being out front all the way home our speed went up 16 mph. It is so weird now that I am at home there was no wind at all errr. I saw Mr. Bean and Gina on the way back Beaz looked pretty good considering he did the Breathless Agony yesterday.

Sho' was windy! We started at Imperial. The trees were dancing the cha-cha. From experience I know to take it easy on the way in order to conserve for the return against the wind. We soft pedaled to the beach and esily held 20 cause of the wind. I was tired but had to pick it up a few times as Gina swung around me. I wasn't going to let her drop me!:D
On ther return, we were doing 13 for many miles. Later down the trail, about 17. Ride sure did me good. Tender muscles feel much better now. But boy does my butt hurt!:D

Yeah Yeah I usually do take it easy on the way down, but I didn't think it was going such hell on the way back. Sounds like wind did die down on the way back glad to hear it. When I got to Angel Stadium the wind was starting to die down. It was nice to see you and Gina, Kristine hopes to back on her bike soon.

I was there for a couple hundred feet. I used the trail to turn around on PCH so I could ride leaning to the other side on my way back home.
I usually mountain bike on Sundays. We headed up to Chino Hills. Too windy so drove back towards home to check out Santiago Oaks or Irvine Park. Too Windy. Drove over to O'Neill. Too Windy. Finally ended up in Casper's but it's now close to 11am and getting boiling hot. Did our ride, got very dehydrated and alittle sick; but hey, no wind. I'm sure going to miss the nice cool weather when it leaves. I just don't do well in heat!

Yep - I rode it today. I'm used to having the tailwind for my way home upriver - things were reversed today.

It was a change to have the wind reversed - I did from Warner/Newland in HB - PCH - SART up to the Honda Center and then returned. My avg going against the wind was 14+ mph but coming back down was around 22 mph.
My trip was 41+ miles, my longest yet since I got the bike 2 1/2 months ago.

The way you were flying up the mountain on BA, I thought it was a recovery ride for you!:D

Me too. I have been away for a couple of weeks so it was my first long-ish ride in a while -- I thought it was just me, but no, that wind was intense.

For me, actually it was just another training ride. With a clock. I only get one good ride in a week, Saturdays. I try to get a ride in on Tues or Wed. I take the minimalist approach to training. I don't recommend it. If you miss one day you lose a week. With a 3 and 1 year old (boys, tons of energy) I don't get much time to get out. I'm lucky to get 6-7 rides in a month. Looking at my bike journal I have been on my bike 26 times.
Geez all you guys are fast! I'm taking up ping-pong and giving up the riding!:o
Mr. Beanz I commend you for getting up that mountain. Don't ever give up, there will always be people that are faster than you are so there is no need in beating yourself up for being slower. A bunch of people passed me on that mountain too, doesn't matter, I was racing against myself. Just the fact that you climbed a mountain with your bike is incredible.
