General Cycling Discussion - Salsa Grips... HELP!!

Welp.. I just (tried) to install my new salsa grips i got from the shop today. I got the left one on fine. But when I tried to put on the right one, the little bar end thingrefuses to go in all of the way.. its horrible.. ive tried almost anything.. >:(

If anyone has anything to help solve this please post it.. there might be some hope before i bring back my entire bike to the shop and try to get them to fix it.

Bar End thing? Are you talking about the plugs that go into your handlebar? If so, stick your pinky in there first to make sure you don't have old plugs blocking up the hole. I'm not above seating them with a rubber mallet.

If I totally misread this post, and you are still trying to slide the grips on the bar, try shooting a little hairspray into the grips first.

thanks dirt.. but it was because the little plug wasnt molded properly i think, so i ended up cutting off a bit of the end of the plug. it works now :)

Sounds like you've solved your problem, but I figured I'd throw this in for others. Best thing I've found to install grips is rubbing alcohol. Pour a capful in the grip, cover w/ hand and shake it up. Install fast, the alcohol evaporates quick.

Used to use the hairspray trick in the old BMX days. That works almost as well, but if the grips ever get a good drenching, they will sometimes break loose. Still a pretty good method though.

Cheap hairspray is better than the expensive stuff for sticking grips. I live in the pacific northwest and my grips never get slippery with our wet weather.
