I just wanted to share with you guys that I did a 100km (65mile) ride yesterday on the Isle of Wight (a small island off the south coast of England). It was my longest single day ride by about 30 miles.
We got a bit lost so ended up doing 69.07 miles at an average of 12mph, I'm pretty pleased with that especially when I saw the map showed we climbed about 1000m over the day.
It was the first time I'd really ridden with serious cyclists and it was encouraging to see I was setting an ok pace compared to them, even overtaking a few people. It was also reassuring to hear them refer to the route as 'hilly' because for a while I thought I was the only one feeling it.
Once I get over the aches I'll be commuting to work. This cycling is addictive, next step 100miles!!
