Southern California - Jersey for Vicki-BF girls' opinions needed!

Good morning,

My wife Vicki has begun riding with me and we are signed up for the Country Coast Classic in Cambria next month. Most likely we'll ride the 25 or 30 miler as this is her first organized event.

She generally wears my jerseys. I'm thinking of getting her one of her own to wear, a little surprise I'll spring on her one day. I could get her a cheap one but I kinda like these two:

For sizing, should I go with Small? My Mediums look at tad large on her. (she's 5'2, about 103)

Whoa I like the purple one - Numero 3.... :D and definitely a small.

First off, Sheldon - how very sweet and romantic of you to "pick out" a jersey for her. As for preference, honestly, you know what she likes the most and what colors work well on her. IMHO, I prefer the Velowear jersey for it's appearance, but I do not know which quality is better and that counts as well (perhaps some other BF gal has worn both brands?). As for sizing, jerseys are tricky. Some brands run smaller than others - especially true if it's a European cut. I'd err on the side of caution and get her a medium. Have her try it on and if it is unacceptable, you can always exchange it. But women rarely like to exchange for a "larger" size if you get my meaning. ;)

Definately a size small, maybe even an extra small?
I wear a small in all jerseys, but Primalwear I wear an extra small.
And I like all of the jerseys, but of course I like the PINK ones the best :)

I like the last two...the first one would be good if the bike had drop bars instead of flat bars. In fact, I haven't bought those "ride like a girl" water bottles because of that one tiny detail. :o

I bought the ride like a girl water bottles because they have PINK in them!
Of course I have TWO because the water bottles have to MATCH on the bike :D :D

I think it is very sweet of you to want to surprise your wife. I vote for #3. I think a small. I wear a medium and I'm a bit bigger than she! :D

It's so nice of you to get a jersey for your wife! She weighs less than I do, so I think you need to go with the smaller sizes. A few brands run big/small. It also depends on whether she like a club fit or a race fit.
To give you an example, in tops I wear a small in Castelli and Assos.
I wear an X-Small in Giordana, Shebeast, Primal, Gore, Craft, Descente, Sugoi, Louis Garneau.

I like the SheBeest line of jerseys for women. My wife has several. There are a few closeouts at Sierra Trading Post (http://www.sierratradingpost.com/Shebeest.html) worth looking at.

the best laid plans....(no, didn't mean it that way)...I ordered the jersey from Voler on Monday. The package came in on Tuesday. Opened it up....oh crud...I must have clicked on the green instead of pink! Now having lived with a girl for so long, I know I can't just return it for the pink because there is always that 1 in 2 chance that she would have preferred the green!

So....I gave her the jersey and then showed her both colors online telling her I would swap them if she liked. She was okay with the green and we promptly put it to use by going on a ride together.
