Following my solomn vow, I gave away my Vintage Raleigh Sports yesterday. It was given to me, in excellent riding shape, by a BF member who only asked that I give it away when I no longer wanted to ride it.

I realized pretty quickly that a beautiful vintage three speed doesn't get much road time with me here in the hilly Virginia countryside, so it mostly sat in my office. After a few months the Raleigh (which an office mate had named "Miss Moneypenny") seemed to want much more fresh air and exercise than I was giving it, so I posted here and elsewhere a "Free to Good Home" ad.

A fellow who plans to ride it on the flatter Washington DC trails came and picked the bike up and took her away. His five-year-old daughter seemed fascinated with the big ding dong bell I had put on it.

I feel just a touch sad to see Miss Moneypenny go. But mostly I feel good to know that the bike will be getting regular workouts. And, honestly, I'm glad to have a little more free space in my office. Sometimes ya just gotta let go.

Good show, matey!

Even in the Bond series, Miss Moneypenny's come and go regularly.

Sounds like you did the right thing. Now you have good karma and will benefit from it.

True love is knowing when to let go.

I am sure she will be loved in her new home and that you specified the same rule, only to be passed on for free and not sold.

Sometimes ya just gotta let go.

Sometimes it's just hard to let them go. Then some of them you just can't wait to get rid of---oops we're talking bikes here.

I'm sure the bike will enjoy her new home.

Travis, What a Classic ride for the Mt Vernon Trail or some of the others! That would make a great slow cruiser for those trails there. I am sure the new owner will love it!

Miss Moneypenny's inner child is very grateful, JT. Remember she is on her own journey through life, and who are we to interfere?

Good karma.

There was a poem written about stuff like this:
If she leaves you, set her free.
If if she returns, it's meant to be,
And if she returns not back to thee,
Then hunt it down and stuff it in a trash compactor.
