General Cycling Discussion - I met Joe!!!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Hey everyone! Just have to say I got to meet Joe (Forum Janitor) for a bike ride yesterday! Had a good time and I was lucky enough that he slowed down enough so I could keep up with him.
:p
Has anyone else met with Forum members?
Is he really as much of megalomaniacal tyrant as he seems to be on the forums?:D

Other then the stiff wind, rain and bugs (also stiff), it was a great ride.
I'm not going to ruin Tilly's illusion that I had to slow down for the ride...

How about a Nepalese Yak Breeder forums? I dont know of any off the top of my head...
Now MKRG I bet being a Yak Breeder gets you all the chicks!
;) :D
I think it's great when BF members meet up and ride together. I definitely enjoyed my part of the Rainman's excellent San Diego adventure.

I actually met up with 2 forum members this past mothers day weekend in Ohio, it was TOSRV and I met and actually rode with Anastasia, that was nice, and there was one other person here, who plz forgive me Kevin, but I can't remember your forum name, but I met him at the ride also..It was very cool, and yeah I agreee with John E here, it's nice when forum members can get together and ride also, put's a face and person with the people who type here..
Joe it sounds like you're a very nice and good person, I personally think that this forum, while it's the first one that I have been a part of in my life, but I'm really impressed with the people on it, and the way you have organzied and run it..It's clean and very good, I really like that, and am glad that I have joined it...It really show's that you are good and have a knack for this kind of computer stuff, and that's really cool in my mind..
Take care,
Benjamin
UncaStuart, Sailguy, and I have met. We belong to the same bike club. I also met Stinger9oh over near Santa Cruz at the start of another club ride.

Someone mentioned in another thread that Bike Forums should have a dating section, but why not have an activity partner section. This form would be good for people who want to connect with other BF members as a cycling partner, touring partner, or even relationship partners.
For example: Biker X will be in City Y, would like to meet hot Bike Forums cyclist for a ride and a beer.
I've met 1OldRoadie doing the HHH last year.
will see him again this year (we are going to ride
a slow 100 together!)

That's pretty funny- put the heavy emphasis on "activity"! ;)
believe it or not, not many women have an interest in yak breeding.

you really didn't have to go there!:D :D :D
I'm getting the visual in my mind whether I want it or not.
Wow, Cool. You got to meet Joe. That is more cool than meeting the President of the USA (cause I don't think he bikes).
I met Rainman, BLWYN, and Inkwolf so far. All of them are really neat people.
Start a bike site, and hope the hotties will register and go on rides with you... hey, it worked for me...
Ok, where'd this come from?

Hey, that's cool that you got to meet Joe. So come on, where's the dirt on our janitor? :p
Oh yeah, I rode with Allister a couple of years ago, then in April 2002, Cabledonut flew half-way across the world to ride with me! (at least that's what I'd like to think  ).

Sammer and I rode part of the MS 150 ride last year, we've actually known each other for years. Mikey and I did a ride early last year, not planned, but we just happened to be out there at the same time. Strange, as we work together but are on different shift cycles.
They're both enthusiastic bikers and great people.

I've had the pleasure of riding 50 miles with Bikedud not too long ago. We met and rode out to the 25 mile marker and back on the Silver Comet trail.

What does Joe look like? I envision him as a young Robert Redford.

Ok, well then how ugly are you?
;)
Joe, you know I love you... how about providing a picture of our fearless leader?

You're in IT with, if I remember, the *biggest of the big* company and you don't have access to a digital camera?!
Come, Come, Joe. As a newbie, part of the deal for me must be seeing who runs this forum (an excellent one it is -- I did my research for six months before joining).

Wasn't there a picture of Joe on this website some time ago? I'm pretty sure there was!
Joe Gardner
06-15-03, 09:40 PM
Yes, there was a pic at one time, lost it when my HD crashed on my old computer...
Rowan, I have an OLD digital camera but the drivers are only good for 9X, no XPH drivers avalible. I should pick up like Denver's, a 640x480 $39 camera.

 :roflmao:
Just how old did you say that photo was? Actually, you *can* recycle it safely now -- mullets are on the way back for those who aren't as follically challenged as some!
Yes, like the idea of Denver's camera. Would be handy on my upcoming o/seas trip.

Now, I know Joe sent me a picture to impress me once... here it is! Whooooo whooooooooo!!!!
<pant pant> <heavy breathing>
Now ladies, check out the unit on this one! ;)

Joe: How wrong I was in envisioning you as a young Robert Redford. After seeing your photo, I think you look like a young Al Gore. :D
See Joe I told you!!! You need to put your picture up! Otherwise Koffee might turn this into a porn site.;) :p
Love the pic Koffee!:D :D
Joe, go buy a digital camera, fast.
Joe Gardner

Maybe I dont have a pic up for a reason? ;)
We need a members picture thread like Ridemonkey.com has.

I think we had one at one time...
Oh Joe, don't be modest!
I'm sure the pic I posted is close enough to you. After all, Tilly's NOT saying it's the furthest thing from the truth, right?
Sometimes the truth lies somewhere in-between. So you have to be somewhere between my picture and MKRG's.
Which means you're somewhere between butt-ugly  and supermodel  . Does that about narrow it down for everyone?
 :roflmao:
between butt-ugly and supermodel
between? BETWEEN? The picture that I posted represents the unadulterated truth! Come on people! Look at his Avatar...PEACE SIGN! Look at the picture I posted...PEACE SIGN! He's a hippie I tell you! A HIPPIE!!!
not that there's anything wrong with that.
