Under your usa cycling tab thing, find a race, it should have 'rank' beside it.

This is my first of 15 races that have been reported.

Of the 12 races I've done this year, 1 is reported, and it was a relatively poorer result. Leaving me as 2456 best Cat 5 racer in the country.

Not to diminish Cypress' acheivements. But it does point to a rather obvious flaw in the system. You can be finishing top 10 in 100 person fields in populated areas, and be ranked behind someone finishing top 5 in 20 person fields in Montana. Until they race head to head the ranking is about as accurate as a BCS computer.

This reminds me of a question I had... Isn't there a way to find out how many Cat5s, Cat4s, Cat3s, etc. there are in the country? I seem to recall that there are something like 60000 total USAC cyclists but I don't know what the Cat breakdown is... I seem to remember there only being something like 1000 Cat2s but maybe that number is low.

As far as posting of results goes, how long does it typically take to get them on the USCF website? I'm guessing it's really a matter of how fast the promoter submits them, right?

Actually I kind of inherited it from guys who moved up to A's. I was 5th before the CC race and found myself in the lead after mesa state.

I think two guys from your school (CSU im assuming) moved up to A's, which helped me a lot.

But no, none of our races have been reported and I doubt they will be. But I imagine they might still work for some upgrade resume boosting

I belive only one of our guys (CSU) moved up after the Oval Crit. Mesa was a baad race for us, did you guys have problems with the tacks? One guy flatted three times...

I'm going to use the collegiate results for my upgrade from 5's to 4's this summer, I doubt it will be a problem. Mass start, time length, field number, got it all.

And it's based on how *low* you score, with a win being the lowest points scoring place.

Small fields penalize for each place as the points spread is the same whether there are 10 or 100 racers. So in a 100 race field, each place is +{x} points. In a 10 rider field, it's +10{x} points per place (given that the races are the same in category etc).

There are weaknesses in the system. For example, most of my placings are at the race series I promote. It's a criterium but it lists as a road race sometimes even though we applied for the permits as a crit. So I ended up a phenomenal road racer (haven't entered one since the late 90s).

Also, many promoters don't send results into the USCF. So that doesn't help in getting stats together.
