I am considering getting a set of candies to go on my cross bike. Currently I use eggbeaters and love everything about them and the company. The question I have for the boad is whether or not the candy's platform will really provide more stability unclipped than the standard eggbeaters when remounting the bike?

I ran Candys my first season of 'cross and i've seen lots of 'crossers running Candys-- but even more running Eggbeaters. This last season i ran regular Eggbeaters. I still run Candys on my MTB.

If anything, i find that the plastic body of the Candy makes footing less secure under wet and muddy conditions-- the plastic can be rather slippery! The regular Eggbeaters weren't any less "secure" unclipped.

Furthermore, the plastic body hindered the evacuation of mud-- especially thick goopy stuff. Several times i wasn't able to clip in. Not so with the Eggbeaters

Thanks for the response. The mud clearing was something that I was honestly afraid of.

I've tried both, and even for just around town, I greatly prefer eggbeaters. When mud's involved, definetly eggbeaters. The only plus to the candy's is you can ride around the block without your shoes in slightly more comfort.

I have 3 sets of Eggbeaters and recently got a set of Candys mostly to see if the platform would help with road biking. So far I see no benefit over the standard Eggbeater pedals.

In fact, didn't think of it before, but I had to dremel a bit of the sole on my shoes (Diadora Geko) to fit the Candies. No such modifications necessary for the Eggs.

Candy SL's and C's on my TriCross. I have had no worries with mud or anything else and the platforms are nice.

i've got both and like em, but i don't think i's buy candys again, for all the reasons posted above. the eggs do everything the candys do, but do it better.
