Framebuilders - First time track end install pics

Here is my favorite old frame, a Schwinn from the late 90's. I loved the frame, but prefer SS. Finally got up the courage to take the torch to her. When I'm done I plan to bastardize it with some auto paint. Pearl white metallic or Navy blue perhaps.

I've never brazed a bike frame before. If any one see's a problem or weakness, please say so. I enjoy riding too much to kill myself doing it just yet.

That looks like a darn good job! Did you raise the BB in any way? This is usually done by having dropouts with taller top section or by removing the seatstays and re-attaching them a little lower.

I like it. I have an old Prelude frame at home waiting for that upgrade. Let us know how it turns out when it's done. Good job.

Good point here. There are special SS "conversion" dropouts for just this reason.

Question about your brazing work: did you flow lots of brass down into the tube where the dropout tabs contact the stays? Many builders literally fill up the end of the tube with brass to encase the dropout tabs. I'm not saying you didn't do this but wanted to ask since the photos look like the stay ends are domed - it's hard to flow brass down into domed ends sometimes since you can not see in there.
