Southern California - SoCal kit gone Midwest

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Just wanted to let the SoCal folks know aham23 is putting his SoCal jersey to good use now that the weather has warmed up here in Illinois. These are from the Joliet Sudden Century on Sunday. Lots of headwind, so I'm sure he was appreciating the race cut.
aham23's California dreamin' on such a springtime's day.

It wasn't all posing in beautiful downtown Joliet, though. Heading into the Chicagoland Speedway for a ride around the track.

Excellent. For greater effect, he should steal the shorts off the guy next to him.

He had the gloves, helmet, and bike all matching the black/red scheme. Matching shorts would have been a little bit too much...

Not to mention having the other guy riding half naked, I suppose.

I'd have to see a better shot of him to determine whether or not that would really be a bad thing. ;)

I'd like to bring to the judging committee's attention: the gentleman's shapely gams.
No further testimony, your honor. :-)

Psssssst...but they're hairy! Sorry aham...you have to embrace the razor if you want into the club. ;)

No pee, just sneek past border patrol, then buy a driver license in Santa Ana.

not an issue. the second thing i would do after a move to SoCal is become close friends with the razor. the first being upack my bike and SoCal Jersey. here in the midwest we need the extra layer until around late July! :) !

Don't worry about the reciprocity. The Illinois / Great Lakes regional jerseys are just a myth.

I wasn't included in the voting. I don't recognize your authority.
ps. When's the Great Lakes regional subforum going to get their act in gear and make a jersey?

When Psimet2001 gets off his lazy @ss and finishes it.*
Or when SoCal freezes over like the hell it is.**
Whichever comes first.
*just kidding on that. he's a busy man.
**just kidding about that, too. i'm sure SoCal is more of a purgatory than a hell....

You must not have received the memo or you would realize that this isn't a democracy. Now fetch me some aloe for my sunburn, boy.

About time for a bloodless coup, methinks.
And :slap:!
How's that burn feel now?
Well, when you slap me on the ass, it's fine. I'm not burned there.

Ahh...no thong? You're not living up to the Illinois impression of SoCal beach bunnies.

I heard my name....
Wasn't sure I was still going to be riding this year with all the medical issues last fall. Now that I am (and currently trying to eliminate all that October through March dead weight) I am getting prodded to finish the Great Lakes Jersey.

Grey for the drab weather we've been having.
I'll start a thread on it, but due to the fact that it will be in the midwest section it will go something like this:
Post 1: You want a jersey like this? PM me.
Post 2: Yeah, I'll take 1.
Post 3: That's ugly.
Post 4: Will that fit over my fat?
Post 5: I'll take 1.
Post 6: The color choice conflicts with my quickstep bibs and doesn't match my new Selle Italia SLR saddle. I guess I could compensate with new bar tape and bottle cages. I'll see if Jerry can get those for me the next time he's fitting me.*

Psimet: If you do, in fact, choose to go with the ChampSystem bibs or shorts...I have some negative reviews to give you. I don't like their chamois...gave me a sore that I wasn't expecting. They claim it's flexible and moves with you, but I don't think that's necessarily a good thing....and the spandex is pretty thin, so the stitching doesn't give me a reliable feeling. For what it's worth, I compare them in quality to Performance Elite shorts and chamois. Not the Ultras or the Century or Century Gel. The Elite.
I much prefer my PI Microsensors...so if you have those, the ChampSystems shorts are less-good.

Can be had gratis with a RAAM donation or a pre-paid Shell gas card. Or a 6-pack of Ensure.

That's pretty slick looking. I'd definitely consider telling other people to buy that.

Thanks, I only had to convince my old job to buy Illustrator for me and then teach myself how to use it. The thing that took the most time was creating the custom brush that is the bicycle chain.
Maybe you can't tell, but the two lines on the chest above and below the Bikeforums name are actually bicycle chain. Same with the circle on the back with the Great Lakes picture.

maybe this will make me King Obvious, but it would be a lot easier to tell if i actually had one hanging in my closet.
I'm not saying, I'm just saying. :) :)
