Touring - Last Minute Checklist

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

If it was me:
2 man tent
WIth a recumbent it can be a big seat to cover, on a regular bike all I need is a small plastic bag to cover the Brooks. You can't tarp the other stuff when you're riding in the rain it needs to be water proof
15' iCord for hanging food, reinforcing tent in bad weather, clothesline etc (Bear Country)
Bear Spray
Advanced First Aid kit, including suture kit (Yes, I know how to use it). Worth carrying the basics a passing med might need to save your life, as in military, O- blood patch though I don't bother myself.
biodegradable cam soap
sanitizing gel
Muskol, or maybe the new Cutter
Old bottle of Coppertone from the 80s I cover up pretty good
2 sleeping bags (50 degree rated, ventable for warmer weather)
Sleeping Pads (closed cell)
utensil bowl and cup
2 rain pants, 2 ponchos
6 water bottles each
I own more axes than the rest of Bikeforums put together, but one doesn't need one for a bikes trip
Ti entrenching tool, light weight, might be a good choice for dogs. I carry a lockback and a Cold Steel Spike
Clothing, Me:
2 shorts, padded
Knickers, padded
2 sets, Tights (not for me wreck the chamy effect)

2 underarmor shirts

Fleece and windproof shell
Reg touring gloves and cold weather as well
Ear Warmer
Bikes:
Schwinn Passage touring bike
Sun Recumbent trike
trailer for gear
Locks
basic emergency multitool (I always just take the loose wrenches that specifically fit parts of my bike with the correct extentions for torque. I try to sellect components with repairs in the field in ming, like cable nuts that require 2 wrenches.

extra tubes
patch kit(including speedy and other patches, quick stick, and roadmorph pump)

If I need to remove a damaged link to replace it with a power link, won't I need the tool? It's not a lot of weight and cheap insurance!

Check on the brake cable! Almost forgot! Power links are tiny! I have chain lube as well, one of those things I forgot to write in to the list. Pedro's Ice Wax!:D
Coffee is Seattles Best chocolated coffee and I use backpackers filters on a skewer to make it. Don't drink Tequila, but I do have a small bottle of Otard VSOP Cognac we are taking for those little tots in the evening!:D

If you will be loading up the trike I'd love to see a photo of it fully loaded to see how you did it.

You are looking at the wife's basic load. Other gear will be trailered. She'll have some in the single pannier on the back, but I'll be pulling the bulk of the weight.:) Good thing I'm a big horse ogf a Clyde!
Happy trails!
Might as well throw in some fly fishing gear!

Take the tool. You'll need it. Them durn chain pins are hard to pull out with your teeth, particularly in the dark with cold, freezing, rain coming down.
