I am wondering if anyone has the same problem. I asked my LBS, and they said this is a new problem with the 07' model due to the carbon fork. Am I the only one? Thanks.

it's probably your pads and the brake adjustment. try koolstops and more toe in.
if you search through some of the brake threads here, you'll find this is a common problem that has MANY possible causes and solutions.

Yep, had the problem with mine. As mentioned, pads and toe/set-up have a lot to do with it. I thought my problem was solved (switched to br550 brakes, softer pads) but the chatter started to return recently, so I cleaned all the built up crap off the rims and braking is fine again. Long story short, clean yer rims before swapping stuff around :)

I did a search and found this to be a common problem with certain bikes. A lot of posts have good pointers on fixes. However, I am curious if this is a common problem with the Jake series...
Do people have problems with their 06' Jts bikes?
The reason I am asking is that I still have the option of going with a 06' Jts right now... I am inclined to do so if the 06' doesn't have the same problem.

It seems to be a problem with cross bikes. I don't know why. Probably the cantilever brakes. Never had any chatter issues with v or caliper brakes.

I have never had issues with my own cross bikes, nor any that I have built up for folks. Brake chatter is a symptom of poor set-up, nothing more. It's not the pads, the cantilevers, the fork or any other reason. Set the brakes up properly and they are fine, even with stock parts...

I had this problem with the 05 JTS with the cromo fork. I switched to shimano front brake and that solved it. I could not adjust the avids in such a way to eliminate the cargo truck sound eminating from the pads anytime I stopped. The downside of the switch is that the new brakes don't seem to stop quite as well.

i guess the biggest difference between the two models is the carbon fork versus the steel project 2 fork?
you should be able to get the 07 running right with some tinkering. i sure hope your lbs isn't trying to pawn the problem off simply on the new model being the cause. seems to me they should have it set up to work properly to sell it.
i think this is more a problem with canti setup in general and specifically with avid's and with their stock pads, but also probably exacerbated by the carbon fork. fwiw, my cross bike is also made of easton ultra-lite tubing, and i had squealing and chatter with the old aluminum fork, using avid 6's stock pads. after new front pads and some setup tinkering i got the aluminum fork to run great. when i upgraded the fork and was still running the koolstops, i still had to tinker with brake setup to get good stopping performance.
edit: crap you guys are fast.

yeah i know, i was making a comparison to the 07 jts for the original poster. cool your jets cowboy. i was saying i essentially have the same frame and brakes and a carbon fork and my bike brakes fine, so it's not specific to the bike.

I'm just tired of everyone blaming obvious setup/install issues on the parts and not owning up to the fact that they've either A)not bothered to check anything when they pick-up a bike from their LBS or B)tried to do it themselves, with no clue how to do it properly...

Tried the 06' JtS... It doesn't have the same problem. The only 58cm 06' JtS left at the shop does have a big paint chip though.

Keep the '07, and just work on setting up the brakes right. I've got an '06 JTS and I've not had any chatter issues with the stock pads since I got the bike several weeks ago. I've ridden on pavement, limestone, and singletrack.

yeah... toed in the stock pads and it reduced the chatter a significant amount. I think the combination of aftermarket pads and toe in might do the trick completely.
